The Goths make great subject matter... a little like the punks from my youth... I've been to a couple of their concerts, but tend to get a few strange looks...
Two questions:
- how did you fire the SB600???
- why did you warn about it not being dial-up friendly - when in fact it was... (sorry - just a little gripe of mine as a lot of people seem to be doing this recently)
leek, I fired the SB600 using the internal D70 flash in commander
mode and bounced the IR info to the flash off the shiny bar
and, the image in the post is small, the large one is found via clicking on the posted image.
Cyrus wrote:Great shot mate, I especially like how the airbourne particles can be seen in the light in the hi res version. Our tastes are similar mate. Classy shot, added to by the simple yet effective black border.
Good job
Cyrus
Thanks Cyrus, I could bring you to the club one Friday if you are up for 120db industrial music *chuckles*

Congrats and i hope to see more!
Jamie, surely you jest. Thanksyou for the great compliment, but I am sure I have seen far better images on this site so far.

mate, that is the greatest compliment my shots have EVER received. Thankyou.
marcus wrote:Nice image, just got the sb800 and experimenting this weekend.
Hopefully I can emulate your good effort!
marcus, I'm jealous, I want the SB800 now that I have seen what more I could do with it. I'm glad I can use the built in speedlight on the D70 in commander
mode to set the SB600 off but I'd REALLY love a SB800 on the camera for front fill as well while it commands a SB600 like I did here. In the meantime, I'm taking silver foil to the club for reflective use.
rokkstar wrote:Mark,
Excellent shot.
This is exactly what I want to do with flash and am now thinking that the 600 will accomodate all my needs. Are you happy with it and does it do everything you need?
rokkstar, unfortunately the sb600 doesnt quite do everything I need. If I had two sb600's I'd be happier and if I had an extra sb800 to command them all and remotely control a number of Sb600's I'd be set.
kipper wrote:Mark keep up the good work. While goth isn't my scene, they do seem to make wonderful subjects. Just keep them coming.
Everything about this shot appeals. The lighting, the attitude/pose of the subject.....it rocks. I had a look at a few of the elements and visualised removing them (eg. the glass on the right, the metal spikey necklace etc). Without them the image wouldn't be the same. Maybe a slight better placement of the glass so it was more in view, however I do love the light coming through it.
thanks kipper, the placing of the glass wasnt even noticed until after the shot was reviewed on a screen when I got home, I suspect the
model I prefer to work for had placed it there serving him, as she works the bar in this club. Also, I've been on DeviantArt for :
"is a deviant since Mar 23, 2004, 3:37 PM " such a funny way to put it.
