Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Here it is after a billion hours of cloning and redoing the BW like Matt suggested. I like it, it gave me a lot more detail over the sky, where adj layers was more finnicky.

Goodness I haven't worked that hard on a photo in a long time. Wowee.

Well it was certainly worth the effort Dooda. Nicely done.

Dooda,

I shake your hand, but I would still remove all those signs in the background, go get a few strong coffee's and get to work

I would like to see this images with only the sand around it.

Cheers,

Mic.

Dave

Awesome effort and definitely worth it. But mic is right. Go the extra mile and ditch the signs to take it from great to magnificent. Then go print it and frame it. This is one hell of a keeper.

If I may make a suggestion, If you live near by, drive out there, go the the general spot you took the photo, and try to combine the two, one being an empty desert (hopefully they cleaned up by now) and the other the sand figure. It may be a litte tough to match the colors, but photoshop CS2 has a color matching tool Image>Adjustments>Match Color.

if you can't go back there...good luck keeping your sanity!

Wow! Awesome effort, and a big improvement over the original, but I tend to agree, if you can go the extra mile I think the end result will be well worth it. (I'd definitely hang it, if it was mine).

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have no idea how I could possibly clone out those signs and match the horizon and sand and mountains. I also can't go back (soon) it's a 1 1/2 hour ferry ride away on Vancouver Island. Plus I suck at merging images, have no idea how to do it. Ah well, Wish I had taken it at a better angle, but I was just sort of snapping and my ride was leaving.

A fellow on flickr could tell that I had done all the cloning, there are some sharp eyes out there.

Maybe the fact there was lots of signs and no people. Maybe he'd been there in the past or had seen video footage from the event?
