More seafood at the beach (DOF exercise)

OK - So you may have seen my recent unlucky lobster thread. Here is another image in the same vein (same day, same walk).
Feel free to share your thoughts on the DOF effect i was striving for here.

Willy, I'm hardly one to give advice after my shocking attempt for dof effect at the zoo the other day. I was using a 50mm f1.4 and focusing only about a half metre away on skinks in the reptile house. Well the eyes are in focus but nothing much else. I should have been up around 4 - 5.6 or so.
Anyway, with your shot, you certainly got the dof effect, but I reckon if you'd been up around f10 or 11 you'd still have got the effect and had the crab sharper. You'd have needed flash though as you were already at 1/50 sec which is a stretch on 70mm focal length. (Or bumped the iso).

Yeah the light wasnt great. Thanks for your comment though and good luck with the 50mm
