Finally added some captions and descriptions to my site

Got a thin skin? Then look elsewhere. Post a link to an image that you've made, and invite others to offer their critiques. Honesty is encouraged, but please be positive in your constructive criticism. Flaming and just plain nastiness will not be tolerated. Please note that this is not an area for you to showcase your images, nor is this a place for you to show-off where you have been. This is an area for you to post images so that you may share with us a technique that you have mastered, or are trying to master. Typically, no more than about four images should be posted in any one post or thread, and the maximum size of any side of any image should not exceed 950 px.

Forum rules
Please note that image critiquing is a matter of give and take: if you post images for critique, and you then expect to receive criticism, then it is also reasonable, fair and appropriate that, in return, you post your critique of the images of other members here as a matter of courtesy. So please do offer your critique of the images of others; your opinion is important, and will help everyone here enjoy their visit to far greater extent.

Also please note that, unless you state something to the contrary, other members might attempt to repost your image with their own post processing applied. We see this as an acceptable form of critique, but should you prefer that others not modify your work, this is perfectly ok, and you should state this, either within your post, or within your signature.

Images posted here should conform with the general forum guidelines. Image sizes should not exceed 950 pixels along the largest side (height or width) and typically no more than four images per post or thread.

Please also ensure that you have a meaningful location included in your profile. Please refer to the FAQ for details of what "meaningful" is.

Captions are visible on each thumb ... a description is available when viewing an acctual image.

If anyone has any creative ideas on captions / names for images, or indeed descriptions please let me know?

I sort of whacked it together as i went.

(and excuse any minor grammar omissions, ill fix them up :) )

Looks good Darb.
One thing I noticed though, was that some of the labels on the main page are half covered by the images. Check the spacings, although could that be a resolution thing with my moniter? Or have others noticed this too?

Yep... I get the same thing, but only on the images that are in the portrait orientation... The frame around the thumbnail overlaps the label/title...

Morning mate...yep great idea, I wish more sites would do this. Sometimes a photo speaks for itself but I love knowing exactly what the photo is about. So I give your captions two thumbs up.

I also love being able to access the exif data for shots...I know this is gallery but perhaps a link to the exif on each shot???? But yeah, maybe that would detract from the sales kinda feel the page has...and it really is only of benefit to photo nuts like us anyway (Jo Blo couldnt care les about what white balance and flash exposure you used!!).

Cheers

yeah ive turned off much of the technical nerdy stuff as i wanted it to be a bit more arty / professional, and kinda thought that technical information may detract from that. (makes people more inclined to think "hey thats just a digital image, i can take that with my girlfriends $300 kodak point and shoot digital, which, granted, could actually be done, but its beside my point :) )

Wow, awesome collection, and I love some of the captions.

Nearly choked on my drink with the "Oh what a feeling", all that sand flying around, great stuff!
