Now everything was working against me with this shot, but after a little fiddling with in Rawshooter (didn't have time or energy for PS).

This was taken from a moving car, at dusk and has been heavily cropped.

What is it?

It would please me no end to know that you were NOT the driver of the vehicle at the time.

I have a Pap buddy who can shoot with a 300mm lens on his DSLR while riding his kawasaki alongside a celeb's limo. Impressive!! But hardly responsible behaviour where the safety of others is concerned.

Well I can't drive, so I was definitely not driving.


Big Pix : Care to elelaborate on what work I should try to do to it ? (the NEF is at home, so can't do anything till tonight).

Thaddeus : It's (Sydney Park, I think) near the big three chimmneys (features in the 3 challenge). Its a person sitting near a statue on the hill.

We drive over that way fair often, and I always see some great sillouettes, of the hill, and joggers, dog walkers light up by the sunset (if we leave early).

From the docos I've watched a lot of the time to get shots t hey just shoot blind and fire off enough photos to get lucky. I watched a doco about Big Picture in the UK. Was funny them just raising big glass over other paps heads to get the shot.

Like many areas of photography this guys must specialise. It is not just handling the camera, it is knowing haunts and habits of the prey as well.

I have stood chatting to dave at Bondi and he's had his camera and 300mm in his hand under a towel. he sees people I would not have a clue about and whips out the camera and grabs a shot. They are then sent immediatelty to New York or wherever and withing an hour he knows if he has a sale and for how much.

Funny thing is that he conceals the camera not from the celebs but from the public. It is always a 300mm with him, and the celebs know exactly who he is and how near they have to pass to be in optimal range. It is the weirdest courting dance in the animal kingdom and quite a treat to watch.

No need to apologise, infact it's an interesting subject, just to reiterate I can't drive, so the shot was taken in a safe manner.
