Went on a night shoot last night with Jamie and 2 of his friends, around the Docklands.

All excellent but the 2nd and third are LUSH!

AussieDave saw these going up on Pixspot, thought I might see a post here These are great shots, defnitely number 4 is my favourite, the colour and composition really appeals to me.
#2 and #5 are also lovely shots, not that the others aren't good, they are all fantastic.
On the critical side I think the weakest shot out of the collection is #6, it doesn't capture the moment for me.

I love number 2. Now where was my invite to go along??

No's 2, 4 and 5 are excellent! Boody well done. The composition of the B&W is rather novel. It butts right into your face. I like that!. What noise removal technique did you use?

Great composition and sharpness in all. That B/W is really nice with great use of DOF. I'm also diggn' #2, #4 and the pano. Well done, mate!

thanks everyone for your generous comments. It had been a while since I'd taken night shots, but I am very happy with the outcome. My favourites would be no.s 2, 3, 5 & 7 (If I really had to choose between them all). There are a few other pics from the night which I will try to PP this weekend and may post (if I like them )

Thanks again to Jamie for inviting me along. It was great to meet you (and Tom & Lachlan) and put a face to the name (I had a ball) & I look forward to seeing some of your pics. Thanks for enhancing my Lens Lust by letting me play with the 50mm 1.8D and I hope I haven't given you any ideas by letting you play with the SB800

Matt K - I only used noise removal on no.s 1 & 4. It is a PS Plug-in called Neat Image, I find it works quite well.

Waspo - you should have come along, though I understand you had other duties to attend to & had to cancel last minute . Look forward to meeting you next time. I'm sure there will be one

Embi - Jamie did the inviting (sorry to dob you in ) however I'm sure the invite got lost in cyberspace somewhere Stay tuned for the next outing.....hopefully I can make it next time, too !

Dave I think that they are terrific. In particular I love the shot of the Bolte Bridge, lovely work

I like them all. My fav is the B&W.

thanks Greg. I have an old Manfrotto ART 190 pro tripod (my wife used to use in her wedding photog days) - with a 3way head (can't remember the exact model off the top of my head - maybe 141C ?!?). I also have a cheapo lightweight tripod but I rarely use that as it's not that great in the wind

I'd really like to get a nice, new tripod (that doesn't weight 50kg) with a ball-head....but it's all about the $$$'s I'd like a nice monopod, too

Great work, your exposures are spot on and the compositions very good.

I actually think it is the old wharves that are being pulled down to make way for new apartments/buildings.

It was all fenced off but there was a small section where we could squeeze through......so we did

Nice one Jamie! I love the way you captured the moon and surrounding planets/stars? in the 1s shot. Absolutley brilliant!!
The shell of the warehouse makes for a great frame and I love the way the light is hitting the walls.

I took a very similar photo to your 1st pic, however I overexposed the moon on mine so it didn't come out anywhere as nice as yours did. Thinking back, I remember noticing the other bright stars directly around the moon, but didn't think much of it at the time. Now I wish I had managed to take a better shot of it.

I really like the 2nd shot you've posted. The bridge looks great behind the end beams of the old shed.....well done !

How did you go with the sticky-pod ?? Have any photos ??

Thanks Andrew. Actually, I have it in TIFF format @ 27" x 11", which I am thinking of having printed.

I am not sure what the name of the wharf is, but it is the one in the middle of Victoria Harbour (opposite the Telstra Dome). We were lucky enough to gain access right to the very end.....so we had an unobstructed view of the bridge

Any of you guys get pic's of the needle & thread out side the Telstra dome? Just thought it might make for an interesting shot. Not sure whether it is lit up though.

Sorry Jase - can't say I noticed this.....I certainly don't have a photo of it.
Perhaps if I make my way back there again, I'll look out for it. I'm assuming it's a sculpture or artwork of some kind
