Late night visitor

Just heard a lovely big thump on the verandah roof, went out and had a look and found a visitor - a very healthy brushtail possum. Thought I'd see how the macro handles auto focus in pitch black, with just the auto sensor on the SB600 to guide it.

Not a great shot - not a great pose, but the lens did a bloody good job given the circumstances :) (I just pointed and shot to see how it would turn out).

I love possums and I love this photo. We get a few around the garden and I have tried to photograph them at different times. It is so problematic.
I like the colour and the composition (and the ears). As you say it's not an incredible shot but it is still quite lovely to view.
I have just ordered an SB600 and am looking forward to getting to know it.

Wow, for a stab in the dark I reckon this is bloody great! Sharp as, nicely exposed... Well done... Yep , they LOVE apples... Possums are lovely creatures, very harmful and destructive for the trees mind you but nice critters and they'll end up taking food off you...

Sometimes wonder if they were army boots though when you hear them on the roof, lucky my roof is tiled, on an iron roof it'd sound like thunder

Great picture, had one jump onto my tiled roof the other morning just before dawn, he landed with such a crash I thought a tree branch had fallen. Great little critters, but.
