Rough day at the office.

Two pics. Nothing special. The quality of the photos is poor, there's blown highlights, oversharpening and the saturation is terrible, but have a look at the bow-wave in the first image. :) Both shot with D70+70-300G.

Both shots taken halfway across the Great Australian Bight. 7-8metre seas. My ship was heading the other direction thankfully as we are about half the size of that bulk-carrier. That ship is about 250 metres long and about +75,000 tonnes.

Yes it was a very rough day at the office.

Hi Steve,
I really enjoy looking at your 'office' photos! It sure looked like a windy day on the Bite! We miss you, come home soon! Cheers matey, and well done on the photos...they tell a story!

Hold on Steve, I have to chuck - ah that’s better - your shots certainly convey the power of the sea :D

Steve, mate you know i love all your shots and i love these as well. I too have been on a ship many years ago called the Oriana and well only place i didn't feel sick was in the swimming pool and i would not go out on 1 again. I would love to go to Tassie but would have to put car on and fly over as i hear it is rough at times.

These shots although maybe not best conditions i find that it doesn't matter as they are fantastic even the first picture with the bow wave and this floating bath tub. Great capture mate and the scene makes up for rest.

I love the first image, that's a great capture in rough conditions. I don't know about you but having sailed across Bass Straight a few times I find waves that size frightening.

What strikes me most is the height of the bow wake, it's above the wheelhouse !

Hope to see some more soon

/M.

Great shots Steve...

If I was in your office I'd be saying hello to Huey and Rolf on the big white telephone most of the time...

Hope to see you back soon...

I went to Tassie once on the Spewcat from Port Welshpool to Georgetown. It was very smelly inside the boat I can tell you now.
