Love the tight crop of the giraffe, and the goat against Sydney is a great image!
Must get to that zoo one day, looks quite good ...

I like the whole bunch, but my favourite is the second one because it's such an interesting angle with the city skyline in the background.

G'day mate,
I thought the mountain goat with the city skyline was good, but that chimp shot is a pearler! Sharp as a tack and a great pose and expression which takes it above the average but sharp animal stuff, great shot mate...

Very nice shots, Sheepie.
My favs are the goat and the owl. The cityscape behind the goat makes for a very cool photo, IMO.

Great shot of the chimp - nicely exposed and framed, and good detail.
What focal lengths did you use around the Zoo?

hehe - I love that spot where you can get the mountain goats into the shot with the city skyline.
Here is one of mine from about 1999 - sorry it's only a flatbed scan of a cheap print. I don't think the D1 came out until later in the year so I didn't have a digital at that stage.......

Great collection of shots, and just added more incentive for a trip to the Zoo. (something the other half will enjoy as well). Is there a better time to be shooting at the zoo ? (Morning, afternoon? the whole day ?)

The whole day! I guess if I was to limit it to half a day, I would recommend morning to mid-afternoon (is that half a day? hrmmm). The sun position is more favourable for most areas in that time slot. The animals are probably a little more active in the morning rather than afternoon.

Mountain goat and Centrepoint tower skyline is a wonderful shot, just that bit different. In fact, they're all good. Seems like you had a great day at Taronga! Haven't been there for yonks but will have to get back some time.
