This is one of about 30 shots that I took of King Tide, a Sydney reggae band who played at Bondi Pavilion on Sunday...
We enjoyed their music immensely and I hope that I've captured some of the intensity of their music in this picture...

A dramatic image. I think you got what you were after. You have to love black and white...it has a power of its own! It's a printer!

WOW! A fantastic image Leek, I really like the B&W treatment you've done, his hand looks amazing! I'd have to agree with Mic, an album cover for sure.....I love it! Very simple and uncomplicated.....you can almost hear him strumming!

Nice shot Leigh, I really like the B&W treatment of this shot, is it possible you could post the orginal to see what it looked like in colour ?

Very nice, Leek. I really like this one. Well composed, exposed and tack sharp.

Now the shot might have been inspired by Leigh's recent efforts, but it was definitely taken by me
I'll post the original later when I get home...
Interestingly, all post processing was done in Adobe Camera Raw... Curves, Desat, Sharpening & colour levels... The only thing that I used Photoshop for was to resize it, add the border and save as JPG...

Sorry my Sony,
I feel foolish now.. I think its a sign to put my glasses on
(Can I also claim degraded vision due to last night's Cricket?). I hope I didn't offend you too much leek.... (definitely seem to be in a similar style to Leigh's work..)

John. Nice composition and nice PP on this. What prompted you to try using just ACR for PP - curiosity or other reasons?

Mainly curiosity... the latest ACR that comes with CS2 provides a huge range of controls over most elements of the photo... I was just exploring...
One big advantage is that you don't need to save a
PSD file to record your PP changes as the changed settings are recorded against the NEF file (even though the NEF file remains unchanged).

Yes indeed. I always use the ACR in
PSCS2 for PP my NEF's. I find it very useful. I don't always agree with the auto settings, but with some quick tweaking, it processes them beautifully.
I also have a custom setting setup (named D70 RAW), which basically turns every AUTO feature off, and the NEF is processed as the camera took it.
A great tool

I like the way that the E string is still vibrating. It's live music.
Great work.

As requested by Alpha7, here for comparison is the original colour image without any PP...
The B&W image wins hands down in my view...

Thanks
Leek!
Definitely better in B&W, but thanks for indulging me by posting the orginal shot. I feel I can learn a bit more when I see how people change their shots, rather then just looking at the finished product.

The B&W seems to have totally transformed the image... Really gritty and strong emotion... That'd be great promotional stuff...
