That's one very ugly fish. It looks a bit Mongoloid. :) It would never grace my plate.

Tinny is an Ocean Cylinder.. has a 50hp Yamaha tiller on the back.. the owner has it setup for chasing marlin and sailfish.. so.. its a very ocean worthy rig.. its a bit like a duck you see the livesafers use.. but its alloy with pontooons on the side..

Get a few pearlies on the jig... and managed to have some fun with it yesterday, i used them last friday, we got around 20+ cobia.. released most of them, kept a couple.. all around the 10-15kg size.. got pearlies and cobia again yesterday.. and a 12kg amberjack that took a bit of stopping

Also managed this lil snappery squire

Tim,

You are nuts! Firstly for going 65 kms in a tinny (my little Quinnie Dart only ever went to middle of Moreton Bay from Scarborough), and more importantly, taking your D70 out there! (This spoken from the bloke who wades out into the surf with his camera and 300mm to photograph the waxheads... :D)

Seriously tho, that's a long way out but it looks as tho you know what you're doing, and the catch of fish speaks for itself! Well done mate.

im just a lil bit nuts.. my D70 is kept in a pelican case.. which you can see in the bottom left corner of the snapper pic.. it only comes out in good conditions... and 65kmh isnt much of a long swim.. ive been 105kms out before with the d70.. very sloppy conditions tho.. so it didnt get to rear its lil lense out of the big black box and say g'day to any fish caught

Still reckon you're nuts man

However, I assume you carry a radio and EPIRB etc, do mobiles work out there or just VHF?

Carry all safety equipment.. Flares, VHF Radio, Epirb, Bailing Bucket, V Sheet... Mobile is no use lol.. bit far off.. once ya get 20kms offshore.. u'll be lucky to get reception

I prefer chasing these.. its only a baby 12kg Amberjack.. but tons of fun.. bad photo tho.. lucky the polariser was working overtime.. the sun was right behind me...
