Few pics from a recent Blue Mountains trip...

G'day all,
Recently joined this forum and haven't posted before, only got my D70 a couple of months ago, just learnin' da ropes now.... The camera's not the problem, it's the lack of skill from the driver :-)

Anyway, wasn't sure where to post a general "G'day with pics" post, so I hope I'm in the right spot. I'll blame Gary if I get beat up ;-)

These are from a recent trip to NSW (I live in Melbourne), a few days in Katoomba and a couple of days camping in the Blue Mountains, wow... What a place...

Anyway, the examples are small jpegs but hope you like 'em...

Any advice is appreciated, as I find the hard part is anything requiring skill (ie: composition), the camera does a great job at recording what was there...

Great photos!
I was expecting to see the usual 3 Sisters - EchoPoint-Katoomba shots...
Very refreshing! :D :D
Great use of foreground, love composition.
Congrats!

Welcome mudder
Some nice shots...you certainly get around?
Those damn pop-ups on your site scare the hell out me. Are they harmless?

thank you for sharing

G'day again all,
Thanks for the postive feedback guys... (Hmmm, wonder if they're being gentle with me...) Ahh well...
Had a blast, getting a few of them printed (five @ 16X20, one @ 20x30) so it'll be interesting to see how they turn out... Although I forgot to up the resolution as an experiment in NC before sending off to printers....

Any suggestions for free pic hosting sites??? Photobucket seems OK but the popups annoy people... I don't get them though, assumedly due to the "pop-up blocker" in XP Service Pack 2?

Thanks and cheers all...
Andrew (mudder)

Great pics mudder - certainly, considering the harsh sunlight conditions that are generally unfavourable for photography.

And it was certainly nice NOT to see the three sisters and typical echo point tourist shots. You've got a creative eye. :)

great shots Mudder. I like the sunrise and the pano shot the best - did you print either?

The group will be able to suggest a number of image hosting sites but I sometimes use

Welcome

http://www.pixspot.com

It is in the early stages - I will finish the site after Uni exams. No cost or pop-ups and no bandwith/download limits. Feel free to create an account and upload as many pictures as you like.

Cheers

Thanks Kristine,
I've joined, are there any rules or suggestions on file sizes etc?

Hi Mudder

You are free to upload whatever file size you like - don't forget that there are still people who connect to the internet via a dial-up account and if you upload files that are HUGE then they will have to be very patient while waiting for them to download (lucky for me I have a 1.5 connection).

If you are using a program such as photoshop, you can use the save for web option.

I am sure that other members will be able to offer suggestions as to what file sizing they use.

Cheers

Couldn't help but laugh...

Added my first couple of pics to your web-site (thank you!) and it appears as though the lowest numerical file becomes the users' icon...

Check out the "user gallery page", see what I mean... I love it... It's great...

Cheers,
Mudder

Good stuff mudder. I will select my first upload with this in mind.

Hey Mudder

Those are some really nice images. I will look into the user icon issue over the weekend and sort it out. I am sure it is some simple configuration setting that I just need to alter.

Like I said previously - I will finish "tweaking" the site after my final exams.

Any other problems or suggestions with the site - just let me know (this goes for colours that I can use for the final site as well).

Cheers
Kristine
