Nice images. They give me a good idea of what New York is like. Thanks for sharing.

I am intrigued by how they did that sky writing.

Cheers,
Owen.

Really nice Jaco.

Your images have captured the essence of NY so well, that i feel as if i have just visited it myself.

You take photos of people really well. Your timing is superb and your composition is excellent.

I really enjoy your 'commentary style' photography.

Thanks again for sharing your images with us.

Hi Jaco...

I looked at these briefly this morning and have just returned for another look...

Every picture seems to tell a story... I love this collection...

Your timing is impeccable... many of the shots capture that decisive moment... a second earlier or later and it wouldn't have worked...

The suspicious cop with his hand on his gun looks as if it was posed, but I'm sure that it's not...

Some of the shots are in pairs and the juxtaposition is very clever...

NY is on my list of places to visit b4 I leave this planet, and your pictures have increased its ranking...

Thanks for sharing... BTW... can you please share some shots of Namur with us... I have very pleasant memories of that place...

Wow, thanx Jaco - great images. I think there is a photographer at work here! :D

I haven't been to NYC since 2000 and those pix really make me want to go back.

Some great images in there. Some that aren't my cup of tea, but overall they definately tell a story. Much better than 'ordinary' travel snaps, and that's something I really aim for in my travel photos.

Well done!

These are great shots and you've made travel photography look much easier than it is.

It is so hard to come home with more than just a bunch of cliches that don't really capture the essence of the place (you did fall into the trap with the shot outside the UN). You have put together a fantastic collage of telling us a little about the life and people of ny. I think that on my next holiday I'll take a leave out of your book and try to capture this almost photo journalism style.

I'll look forward to seeing more from you.

Thanks to all

Could you help me?

I need some serial numbers of yours D70
Your name is not interesting  but the place (country and town) and the date of your purchase
You may replace the two last numbers by 2 X (xx)
Is it possible?
Send to my private mail: jacques.verrees@skynet.be of on this forum of by MP

Jaco - as others have stated these are superb shots but the one that stands out IMO is #2 - the timing is fantastic (plus of course the concept)

I like your sister too

Jaco,

Great images.

But ...

jaco wrote:I need some serial numbers of yours D70

Why do you need this information?

As the owner/admin of this site, I'm not altogether sure that you should be asking for this data, and I'm not sure that I can support your request.

This is basically confidential information that should remain that way, and should only be of interest between Nikon and the respective owners of the cameras.

Even by masking the last two characters of the number, as per your suggestion, I don't think is suitable workaround to retain the confidentiality.

Jaco,

great series on NY. No2 is my favourite. Did you have to wait a long time to get someone to have matching red pants to the sign :) ?

Cheers,

Radar

Not a problem
Here in Europe we have a big problem with the BGLOD (green led)
Wr try to know which camera in whic countries had and will have this problem

I don't need the name of the owner - no interst-, I don't need the full number (just put two X at the end of the number, the 3 first are important) but I need the country and the date of purchase

No secret, no paranoia....

I suppose you know what's the BGLOD now....

example

Germany 40007xx BGLOD mars-04
Germany 40005xx BGLOD mars-04
Germany 40124xx BGLOD mars-04
Belgique 40154xx OK mars-04
Belgique 40183xx OK mars-04
Belgique 421xxxx OK déc-04
Belgique 40xxxxx OK
Belgique 40204xx OK mars-04
France 41857xx OK déc-04
France 41692xx OK déc-04
France 418xxxx OK
France 40xxxxx OK oct-04
France 40065xx BGLOD
France 40102xx BGLOD mars-04
France 40083xx BGLOD
France 421xxxx OK mars-05
France 421xxxx OK déc-04
France 42xxxxx OK févr-05
Suisse 41681xx OK oct-04
USA 3012910 BGLOD
France 401xxxx OK

By this way, for the moment, we can see all D70 from Germany have a problem, nothing from Belgium, half of the D70 from France... and so on

Thanks

You're completly wrong but...
I've already said: no spy and no paranoia...
In that case confirm me simply which are the 3 first of the (some) serial numbers of the D70 sold in Australia.
Do you think it's possible?

What can I do whit that??????
How can I do somthing with that? :?: :?: :?: :?:
Just a little inquiry all over the world...

Fantastic images of NY. You must spend quite a bit of time post processing your shots - cos each one is compositionally perfect IMHO.

Aa for serial numbers, according to a Nikonians survey a long time back, the first digit identifies the region in which the camera was destined for sale, (you've confirmed Europe is 4, and IIRC USA is 3, Asia is 7, etc) so maybe the last four digits would be better at identifying the problem samples.

I fail to see why Gary's up in arms over the confidentiality of this info. So what if ppl know the serial number of your camera?

Hi Jaco... I'm sure that you've seen this already... but just in case:

Nikon have acknowledged the BGLOD problem and will conduct the repairs free of charge - even out of warranty.

my personal serial number is 4015424
This number is written (with my full nmae) on my legal bill in Belgium and on my european warranty + on my Mack World Warranty! I've also a private insurance where this number is also written... I don't see where is the problem.... I don't see anything confidential here.
I was just asking some serial number with the date of purchase, nothing else! It seems you're a little bit paranoiac...

Which is the first charachter for Australia?

4 for Europe
7 for Asia
3 for USA
...
...

Is it also dangerous to tell me that?

Life is difficult....

A couple of points.

First of all, check this thread.

Then, check this thread, and please check each of the links that it contains.

As you can see, the issue of BGLOD has been well covered, and is no longer an issue, and your request for this information is simply not necessary.

Let's all now keep this thread on topic, that being Jaco's wonderful images of NYNY.
