It's times like these you are really stretching the capabilities of the 70-300G, but it will have to do me for now At least I'm getting the memories recorded, and that's what counts most.

Nice one mate. I like the composition of the first especially. And your statement is true, of course, regarding the lens. However I think I recall the diamonds for camera equipment trade off...

Leon, i would never have figured out that they were taken with the 70-300G. They look great. You have done well.

Sheepie, a lot of people under estamate this El Cheapo lens, but in the past i have had some good pics with this lens as well. I like these pics and you are right memories are everything, isn't that what photography is about. I would say he is gamer than me even tho i loved the water when i was younger and still do a bit but when i went on a cruise when i was younger guess what movies they played in the cinema, posioden Adventure and Jaws. That was the end of my swimming in the sea days nealy and well the amount of shark attack here in SA lately i cant not see myself going for a dip in the big blue, beside they would choke on me.

Two good pics and I also would never have figured it was the 70-300G. I wonder if it's weaknesses are really only apparent when the image is viewed up close and personal rather than on a CRT and resized for the web.

I can't see what Amanda was worried about with the surf action either

Certainly, up close is a little more challenging than CRT vision! The main shortcoming of this lens though is it's focusing ability - and since my vision isn't up to manual focusing, I'll have to continue to live with that
To get the depth of field I'm after, I'm frequently stopping down further than the minimum anyway, so the overall speed of the glass isn't so much the issue. I'm also reasonably happy with the sharpness of the lens, although accept that it doesn't have the sharpness of a $2k lens!

Just sold another couple of surf shots taken with my freebie Tamron 70-300mm el cheapo fell-off-the-back-of-a-truck lens, does a fine job, as does your 300G. Lenses don't make much difference I think except in extreme conditions, you have some nice shots here.
