Queen Victoria looks down on you

Taken before a Sydney afternoon storm.

Criticise this! -- or maybe you better not.. &..

Bowl down and show your loyalty to Queen Victoria. May she glimpse at your eyes, revealing insignificance in the heatwave and may her majesty bring mercy to you. A relief of change, a southerly from her acclaimed state Victoria to cool you down.

I like the angle you've gotten here. Adds Majesty to the photo.

However, the green trees are distracting from what would have been a great 'natural' grey scale image. Perhaps a clone/remove would have help put the focus entirely on QV. Also she is a bit dark compared to the sky. If you could play with a curve i'm sure you could make her a bit bolder.

But, that said, i love the photo.

Keep up the good work ;)

Great photo...

Really like the subject and moody sky background... Great choice of subject...

As Killakoala mentioned, cloning out the greenery and some work on the shadows would make this a belter!!!

The camera was tricked into underexposing the image because of the very bright sky. This is why it is dark. However the darkness is sort of neat as it is forboding and moody. If this is what you like, consider also adding some of that moodiness to the sky.

Those little distractions like the trees are such pains in the butt. I've seen so many perfect little pictures, if only there were no powerlines or randomn branches in the way. Arrrgh.

G'day,
One of the big advantages of digital cameras is the ability to "clone out" the bits you don't like... Like the greenery in this shot...

The example shot had a big thick power line running straight through the middle of the shot I just couldn't get a view without it, but 10 minutes with the clone brush in PaintShopPro and voila! No more power line... (although this shot needs work on the shadows...)

I'd try creating a second layer with just the sky (erase everything else) and adding depth to the clouds etc to make the sky that much more moody and threatening...

Cheers,
Mudder
