OK...the first one would look better if the "light" was coming from inside the tent...like a lot of mounaineering photographers do.
The second has something, not sure what but I feel it works better than the first. I find this technique great for emphasizeing a particular part of a photo...I kinda dont think either of these do that as the "subjects" are to fuzzy due to the long exposure. Instead I think perhaps if the fire place or a few trees were colourized the effect would be better.
