Not your typical pelican shot...

Hey guys. This was taken on the same night as the Greenwell Point photos that I posted a few nights ago. What do you think? I think although the lightpost has the opportunity to be a distraction, I think it helps break up the scene a bit.... and I know the pelican isn't all sharp, but that's partly what I like about the image.

Cheers,
Owen.

great movement, the only thing I would do is remove the distracting lines and leave the lone Pelican

This kinda depends on what the subject of the pic actually is,
If it is the pelican, then it is a fair way away and not that sharp, you would probably crop the blurred light pole out or clone it away.

If it is a landscape shot that happens to have a bird in it, I would clone out the light pole because to my tastes, it adds nothing and even distracts from other stuff in the scene, you are kinda automatically asking youself "what is that thing?"

If you want to get good bird shots, I suggest you have a look at http://www.naturescapes.net and have a look at the bird forums there, This will open your eyes to what people are producing.

It will inspire you to out and get some shots!

Hi Owen,
I think the colours are nice, but I definitely find the light pole a distraction. It looks a bit like it's trying to clobber the pelican in the head.
