Went for a quick walk today in the Royal National Park (we must arrange a meet there one weekend!), and caught this snap along the way...

Taken with guess what, with additional fill from the onboard. Hand held, f13.

Obviously, I have adjusted levels - am wondering if I've gone too far with it or not. Here's the original (remembering the 70-300G doesn't have all that close a focusing range, so better framing wasn't a real option for the original!) - no PP:

Any thoughts?

Sheepie, that first one is a pearler!! The colour is just so vivid, really like it. The second one is ok, but nothing compared to the first IMHO. Nicely done!

That first one almost hits me in the face  Was the flower extracted onto a different background?

Re: levels, not sure if it's just me or my monitor or what, but the strong yellow seems to lose the definition between the edges of the "flower bits" to use that botanical technical term

Very strong image Sheepie. I like the vibrant colour and the the radiating green leaves

Vibrant colours. Perhaps a little too much saturation/levels, particularly in the yellow but I like the crop and general effect. Great visual impact and sharp too! well done sheepie

I also like the PP, but think you need to nudge back the saturation a touch. The blue background works well.

Thanks guys - I'm not usually one to play too much with levels and saturation, so the reassurance is - well - reassuring ;)
I agree the yellows are probably a little overdone, and I have lost some detail in so doing. I'll have a look at what I can improve on when I get a chance.
I'm going to print this one out too. I think the colours will jump off the page printed on glossy :)
