Dog agility training, Sunday morning

I took these at the Croydon dog club yesterday morning, using the D70 with a Nikon 80-200 f/2.8 (@ f/8 for the first pic, f/5 for the 2nd & 3rd). I set the camera up on a tripod at dog level.

I'm still learning how to get a better success rate with dog photos, and did two things that I haven't been doing until now: shot in NEF and prefocussed manually: the former to minimise the blown highlights that I so often get with JPEGs (since many dogs have white fur), the latter because I've been relying so much less on autofocus since shooting macros and Tasmanian scenery. Result: the "keepers" percentage went up dramatically.

Guess I'll need something bigger than my 512MB CF cards soon...

Lovely shots Hangdog, especially the first two - the facial expressions on these 2 pups are priceless.

Hangdog - prefocussing and NEF’s certainly are the way to go and the results are proof of this - nice pics :D

Thanks, Frank & Chris. :)

I didn't set out to take so many dog pictures, but as my wife trains the dog and I usually follow her to class, I've been shooting a lot of doggy frames and trying to learn from it...
