Sound triggers for flash units work better if you are using more than one flash e.g.: to try and stop movement........ Edit: You will need a number of flash units and need to start then firing before the sound and during as sound moves......... unless you are shooting animals outside, then it is a bit different, as I think they can be set off with the breaking of an invisable beam or vibration ........ units are available to do this...........
try here for more info, as google is your friend....... http://www.hiviz.com/tools/triggers/triggers2.htm Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
Interesting... I've been planning to build something like this too. I'm going to combine the photogate and delay circuits off the same site. The tape recorder sound trigger should be an easy solution.
I would find a VOX circuit and modify it...
What is the voltage level for the trigger, is it just a normal TTL (Not through the lens....) trigger? New page

Thanks for the feedback guys!!
Craig: I'll also see you at the Xmas party tomorrow!! Parts List: Piezoelectric buzzer element NPN general purpose transistor, such as 2N2222 5-kW variable resistor 5-kW resistor 68-kW resistor 400-V sensitive gate SCR 9-V battery and clip D70S
Can you trigger an SB-600 or 800 the same way as old flash units? Just short circuit the two trigger pins?
Taro I'm currently sourcing and pricing all the parts required.
Depending on what sort of packaging we use, I think $10-15 dollars is a good idea of the final cost.
