I got your sms, did you buy it? Birddog114

I have no money! Well, not enough for it. He wanted 950 for it and a Nikon F, and I asked him how much for it separate, and I don't think he knew what he was sitting on, and he said 450 for the lens only. That said, had I had the money Thanh, I would've bought the Bolex 16mm with a 200mm attached to it and 2 other lenses for $595. I'm still tempted to once I get some money, and I have their email address if I ever want to. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Pretty decent.
The Nikon F's on his table looked to have been kept quite well and I have a feeling the Noct was pretty good, too. Looked fairly well maintained and I couldn't see any glass problems. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Leigh, Should tell me and I can do something about itt for you, I'm not in Sydney today and won't back till Tuesday. don't let the Noct disappear at that price. Birddog114

Hahahaha! you disappear (AWOL) here for awhile and now we can only spot you at these market! Birddog114

Is it gone by now? or you still be able grab it? Noct is my favourite glass in veryyyyyyyy low light, and you won't be disappointed once you got it in your hand. Have to get it! and be the second Noct owner on this forum. Off topic!: We had great day yesterday at Barrington Tops and a new thread of kooka will start soon by Stubbsy. Hi Birdie:)! I've been without internet for a while and out of the country/Sydney PLUS my D70 succumbed to the BGLOD. Good to be back though
Belle,
At what cost? Have you done any film work before? I'm toying with the idea of doing a film workshop for the AW. Logisitcs would be the primary stumbling block, but I'm sure we could pick up some film bodies fairly inexpensively. Getting back to the camera fair, there were some very interesitng ... things .... including something I was tempted to get for Glen to keep Olga happy with - a Ruski body that had an F mount! That was certainly something I'd not seen before. A couple of Hassies for $895 Complete with a lens and back from what I saw, but I didn't pick these up and have a play with them. And of course such bargains as 10 or 15 year old 50mm f/1.4 Nikkors for around $350. Hmmmm ..... Well, maybe not quite bargains. g.

Not so much gone, but rather the fair is over (next one is in June or July I think) and the guy didn't have a business card. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

Hi Gary,
Got it for a bit over $300, really nice nick. I've done a little bit of film before but the D70 was my first camera and so I learnt on that. I'm currently working with film at Sydney College of the Arts and loving it. Film workshop is a good idea.
Should tag his phone number in your pocket? I called you back after your SMS but no reply. Birddog114

The guy actually looked (sort of had an attitude about hiom, actually) that he was at the camera fair, today, and that if you didn't want to buy today, then bugger off.
That was my take on him at any rate; many others there dod have business cards and seemed legit, but while this guy had some nice gear, he didn't seem like a trader. g.

Thaddeus & I were there from about 11-12... I was specifically looking for a Noct on a few tables, but didn't spot it... Most of the stuff there was pretty disappointing - the only thing we spent was the $2 to get in... Cheers, John

VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
Belle,
Did you try and talk them down? 300 isn't bad, but less would have been better. Enjoy the film, the FM2 is a great camera - easy to use, and with a lot of features. Did it come with a manual? If not, if there are any controls whose usage isn't clear, please post a question here. I used to have an FM, which is not that different, and still have an FE2, which is its Auto Exposure brother. g.

. All the gear and no idea. PPOK / Others' pics in my threads OK
It's gone, next one will be in June or July? Are you coming home for a Xmas in June? Birddog114
VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
We got there just after 1, and spent the same as you. The Noct was hiding on an F body on the table on very left after you walked in. Walk in, pay, turn left and walk to the table straight ahead. it was on the leftmost table from there. I missed it too, antil Leigh spotted it and told me about it. Nikon F with, I think, the Photomic head, 55mm f/1.2, $950. g.

Actually, yes - but just for a week or so in Canberra in late June, just to sort out all our stuff still in storage....probably not going to have time to go to Sydney, I don't think... although a Noct would be a very strong drawcard...!!

I was there too (how do you think Leigh got there? ) but at the moment my financials don't even allow me to run to that. We could have easily spent abot 2300 all told - the Nikon F with the noct, the Bolex that Leigh saw, and there two gold Leicas for $750 each. Make that $3200 - perhaps one of the afforementioned $895 Hassies. Oh yes. Next fair is July 23, and I heard someone mention another one in October. g.

Bugger!! I wasn't really looking at the lenses mounted on cameras - Lesson Learnt!!! I was also looking for the elusive scope converter, but didn't spot one of those either... Cheers, John

Haha, good thing I didn't go.. I shudder to think what 'bargains' I would have found for myself..... I slyly "presented" my fiancée with the Tokina 12-24 on Friday afternoon
"Oh, is THAT right? What happened to us saving money for the wedding, and cutting down on expenses?" "Err... This is my play money for the next four weeks" "Right. What happened to us only spending play money once we've saved it up?" Apparently women can remember everything you have ever said, and can bring it up for use in arguments days, weeks, months after the fact. "um. But it'll take nice photos...." "It better." "*coughalsoi'mgoingtotheminimeetnextweekandbuyingatripodcough*" "WHAT WAS THAT?" "Nothing. Just keep walking."
And so say all of us. g.

Oh yes. Film rewind button is on the bottom; can't remember if this has a mujtliple exposure switch, but I think it does. Is there a small lever under the film wind lever? And are you aware of how to tell if there's film loaded insider her, without opening her up? There's a few tricks to be learned with these old manual film beasties. g.

Short of filters, there weren't many bargains for Nikon users. A lot of lenses for Pentax, Olympus and Minolta, but Canon and Nikon had a surprisingly weak showing with Nikon the weakest of all. And those with Nikon and Canon lenses actually seemed to be charging more than they easily should have in most cases. Good price on the Bolex though... damnit. Producer & Editor @ GadgetGuy.com.au

If the noct was working OK you passed up on a true bargain. If you still have his contact details beg, borrow or steal to get the money. Even if you don't like it you can put it on EBay for an instant profit. Going for $1800.00 to $3600.00 at present on ebay. One goes up every week or so. Did you note the serial number?. There is the AI version and the AIS version. The early version has a 7 blade diaphragm and the later has a 9 blade. The 9 blade seems to be more highly regarded than the 7 blade (in terms of bokeh) but I have never seen any direct comparison between the two. Bjorn Rorslett has the 7 blade version and loves it (that man has TOO many lenses) http://www.naturfotograf.com/lens_norm.html I'm just about to get the 7 blade version (not as cheap as your bargain). I think Birddy has the 9 blade. If I ever get to a minimeet, we'll have to find some low light and compare (note that was low light NOT low lifes)
Shakey,
You're correct! mine is with 9 blades. How do I know? bokeh!!! sure the bokeh can tell you more. And I used the screwdriver to open it and did the head count No, pls. don't listen and follow my way, I have a blue tongue. Birddog114

Hi
I came in the market@about 11 ( around ) I spot a 55mm f1/1:2 on a old Nokon F body, with the price $1000 on it, I tried to convince myself that it is no need for me ( lust control), I end up with walk away with only 2 cable release , one machanical , anbd one long using air for ten bucks. Phew.. nearly wanted bargain down price just for the lens, but glad i did not. regards spada
You missed the lottery ticket! seller asked $450.00 for it? and you walked away Birddog114
VNAF, My Beloved Country and Airspace
I was there between 11.30 and 12.30 but I didn't see any of you nor the Noct.
I did see though a hefty piece of glass on the first table on the right as you walk in. the guy had it behind a glass cabinet I think it was a f1.8 180mm he wanted $200 for it. __________
