Another note:
For members, who wish to participate this outing but do not have the 4WD capabilities vehicle.

I may outsourcing 4WD @$140.00/ hour (Charter) with maximum 7 passengers to share the cost:

http://www.moonshadow.com.au/4wd_tours.php
Scroll down to the bottom of the page.

If we have enough the required number of attendees, we can charter a 4WD bus.

If interested, I'll negotiate with them and we may get the good deal.

My proposal is on Saturday Sept. 29th or August 5th.

Do you mean Sat 30th Sept?

Sadly that puts me out (AFL Grand Final).. I missed my own cousin's wedding for last year's grand final, so that's the precedent being set. I'd never hear the end of it if I miss this one for a photography weekend ;)

5th August is out for me too, we have friends staying that weekend.

There will be other opportunities :)

+ recovery kit + air compressor + some booze (warm up) while we're waiting for the sunset over the Tin City + sand dunes.

Members can arrive to Anna Bay mid day on Saturday 29 for the trip.

Other members who wish to discover the locale and its surrounding areas can arrive earlier in the morning for the mini meet at Boat Harbour and we will have a walk thru the headlands or Tomaree National Parks.

Accomodation are available in the area of Anna Bay and it's very affordable for this time of the year.

Dinner will be at Nelson Bay Centre with many varieties of restaurants of your choice.

I feel guilty drinking booze while my friends dig out my truck :P

Bad thing about aggressive tires...they dig a grave very quickly

Hmmm.. July 29th is a LITTLE more acceptable. I was going to go to Adelaide to visit cousins (and go to the footy)...

Would that be an acceptable trade off.. Adelaide... Port Stephens.. Adelaide.. Port Stephens....

:)

Honestly, don't you guys know it's rude to talk about someone behind their back...

I actually think you're talking about the wrong person here. At no point have I actually been ASKED to participate in anything to do with the board (aside from the Blue Mountains walk on Saturday). Usually I'm told "Oh I'm going to the DSLRUsers meeting this weekend, you can sleep in." Maybe it's DES that you need to pull aside and spank, not me!!!

Some people are confused....

I'll explain.... If you look at the title of my last post (yes I know it's small) it would explain all....

But for those who didn't notice that.... Des is my fiance.... I'm his other half.... I'm the one he's suppose to be convincing to come with you guys... I'm The Boss... I'm certifiably mad... I'm full of sacasm and should mostly not be taken serious.

Oops, she's found me.

Now to go and delete all references to "yes, I would love to buy a 70-200VR right now" and "Wow Birdy, that's a great price on the D2X, I'm tempted"

Oh, and, yes we are in for this weekend!!!

Birdy, do you want us to register even though we don't have a 4WD? I know you were talking about chartering one for us non-4WDers

Welcome TheJay,
Hope you enjoy while you're on this board.
Des is a poor guy! let him come home tomorrow, he has no where to stay after a long week hard work in QLD.

We're praying for you! God bless you Des!
I hope and wish you come home safely tomorrow and be ready for the walk on saturday morning

Yes, pls. register and I'll find a solution for all if there's a need for a chartered 4WD.

I don't think many would have been confused. I thought it was pretty obvious you were spying on Des unjustifiably and taking the opportunity to have a go at the poor man while he was interstate and unable to defend his honour shame on you!!!

Just kidding

stubbsy, someone who I wont name, sent a private message saying they thought I should clarify myself because they didn't know who I was.... so I did.

Oh, and I wasn't spying on Des. He actually sent me a link to this thread to inform me of the sand dune adventure. As for him being interstate and not being able to reply, he's a grown boy. He'll get over it.

Great stuff Birdy - looking forward to it :)

Please let us all know about the 4WD charters when you find out. How many hours would we need to charter one for anyway?

We'd probably look at driving up on Friday afternoon after work, coming back sunday sometime.

I'll keep everyone posted on Monday when I come back from my DRP or my "Camp David"

Yes, coming up on Friday night and enjoy the Bay on Saturday, attend the mini meet at "Camp David" and off to the sand dunes in the afternoon for sunset shooting.

You see what I have to put up with?!?! :(

:D :D

This will be an excellent weekend I think - nice to get out of the usual routine for a couple of days. Birdy, can we order good weather to go with it? ;)

Update:
Had a talk with a local 4WD Tour operator over sand dunes shooting trip this afternoon....

After my negotiation, I got the price for 1/2 day/ person, touring in their 4WD bus to the Sygna and Tin City, sunset shooting at Tin City and over Stockton sand dunes.

Leaving my DRP "Camp David" 2:00pm and returning at 6:00pm

For 14 souls/ $300.00. (Yes we have 14 registered members and their loves).

Sheepie Junior is FOC.

If we take this option, we don't have much worrying about our cars, even if it's a fulltime 4WD. No worrying of deflation or inflation tyres, bogged down in the dark on our return from the shooting, we just sit back, relax and enjoy the trip, lastly all covered under their insurance policy while we're on their vehicle (except your photography gears).

Your thoughts.

Great stuff Birdy! :)

Just checking, that price is for all of us, not each, right? :) :)

I'll have to start looking for accomodation at some point... What suburbs/towns should I be looking at? Obviously Anna Bay seems to be literally down the road.

$300.00 for 14 souls = $21.00/each

Accomodation: Anna Bay, Boat Harbour, lot of B&B and caravan park in the area.

Sounds good to me.

I might be late to base on Friday night because we will be leaving Sydney after work so I'll probably skip dinner on Friday.

The Prawns and Oyster always raise an eyebrow for me.

That all sounds great Birdy!! Very full (activity and stomach wise ;) ) schedule ahead.

I guess we will do a quick vote on restaurants etc in the days leading up.. We will probably leave Sydney around 3:30pm on the Friday and get up there ASAP!

Not sure we will go to all the meals, but we'll see what people want to do.
