Royal Botanic Gardens - Titan Arum Flowering expectedThe RBG are expecting the Titan Arum to flower over the next 2 weekends. (they have 2 plants)
This is quite a spectacular and distinctive plant known for its incredible size and foul smell. Might be worth a visit. Watch the evening news for details. Given the size of the flower, a wide angle rather than a macro lens might be more in order Details here http://www.rbgsyd.nsw.gov.au/conservati ... titan_arum Ray
Expressing interest!! I need some break from exam studying. Hopefully it doesn't smell too bad. Abel

Would be fantastic to see!!!!
Apparantly smells like a really really ripe corpse - that's been sitting in the sun just to add to its lovely aroma ! Be warned Dodging and burning are steps to take care of mistakes God made in establishing tonal relationships! -Ansel Adams

Went there this afternoon only to realise that I've forgotten to put the battery back in from the charger
Anyway turned out to be no big loss. The flower has basically almost closed by now, the keeper has even started to cut hole on one of its side to collect some pollens. The stench is also barely sniffable, though they said that it was alot stronger during the full bloom. Most dissapointing though was the size. Their specimens are only around 1m tall, nowhere near the max 2.9m advertised. I might try again when the second one blooms, which the keeper said is expected to be around wednesday. Abel
