Anyone want to shoot a recording session?Hey all,
Is anybody interested in taking some shots of a classical recording session at the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre this weekend, specifically Sunday? The ensemble is the North West Wind Ensemble, a 60+ piece high quality non-profit community-based ensemble who are recording their first (internationally released) CD this weekend. I usually have the photography duties (as seen here on the 1st gallery), but as I'm playing on the recording, I can't take any shots. The group needs shots for both archival purposes and CD insert images, and whilst there isn't any money on offer, what we can offer is the photo-shoot opportunity and photography credits on the CD. The session is not a live concert, so you'll have complete free range access of the entire concert hall. We need photography done specifically on the Sunday as the group will be bringing performance clothes and will hopefully use some stage lighting (not just the house lights) only on that day. Regarding what time?, whatever suits you, we're recording 9am till 5pm, so anytime between 10am and 4pm would be ideal. Any questions, interest, issues, please post. - Aubtin (beej)
Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?Wish I could help out (especially if no one else is interested...), But I am working on Sunday

I can't believe that members aren't jumping at this one. What a great opportunity for a photo shoot. I may pop out myself for an hour or two but can't make a 100% commitment at this stage. Regards

Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?I wish I wasn't already working, otherwise I'd be there with bells on! (but that'd be a bit distracting so I'd come without the bells)

Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?I would love to have a go, and have the time. Just that I don't have the wheels anymore...
Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session? How did this go? I missed this post or would have been there with bells on (haha). I could have played my recorder, too.

Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?Wud love to see the results!
Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?Well I did the best I could to fire off some shots from my chair, only when we we're not recording a take... I can't believe how loud a shutter click can be in a dead quiet auditorium.
Lighting was a major PITA; mixture of very low lit halogens (above) & fluros (sides) on the main stage (no stage lighting, just house lights), and for the group shot: a couple of par cans (right), SB800 (left, bounced off high ceiling), and outside afternoon light (back)... very very messy as you can tell with the differently coloured faces. Anyway, here are a couple:
Re: Anyone want to shoot a recording session?I can hear the photographers crying at missing this one - at least I am - ah well - next time!
