Anyone interested in a night shoot? Updated - 17th May

Postby whitey on Wed Apr 16, 2008 11:49 pm

Update 14 May:
We are on for this Saturday, May 17, about 4:30pm.

Mrs MacQuarie's Chair, starting from around 4:30 pm (sunset will be 5.01pm) so that we can hopefully catch the sunset behind the sailboat and coathanger. From there, wandering around through Macquarie St, into the city, and then down to Darling Harbour. Bring your tripods.

Parking: there should be some on-street metered parking at Mrs Mac's Chair. Bring coinage for the meters. There's flat daily rate weekend parking in a couple of parking stations on Sussex St adjacent to Darling Harbour.

Here is an idea of the route from Mrs MacQuarie's Chair to Darling Harbour http://www.mapmyrun.com/walk/australia/sydney/107562129

Here are some other parking stations around the city http://www.whereis.com/nsw/sydney/circu ... D833E61EE9

Have a free trip to Cuba around that time so hope I can post some good fotos (finally free from vignetting too  )

I think the purpose of the shoot is a meet up somewhere in Sydney and we all wander around taking photos. :)

No need to panic. :)

now where are liquid refreshments being obtained......... as I will be on the end of a shoot of various locations and maybe in Sydney at this time and able to catch up. Now my shoot is weather dependant, so I have to be very flexable......... so I will try to be there, so guess I am a possible maybe......

Any size we bloody-well like. We're a group of friends out on a social outing. It's nobody's damn business what we do, as long as we're not making a nuisance of ourselves or otherwise breaking any laws.

Wow if everyone turns up its going to be quite a crowd!

I wandered past last Friday, sunset started around 5.00 so it looks like we will be meeting around 4.30 to get the good shots. Once we have had enough at Lady Macquaries Chair the proposal is to walk back up the hill past the Art Gallery to Macquarie Street for some shots and depending on how we are for time maybe over to Darling Harbour. The walk is about 3 kilometres the route is here http://www.mapmyrun.com/walk/australia/sydney/107562129

I will confirm time and contact details over the weekend.

Here are a few rough shots as I walked past after work on friday, not great but should give you an idea of the potential. About 30 minutes later (as I got home) the light was superb so I am hoping for some nice shots on the night.

1. The Bridge and Opera House
Image

2. City (pretty ordinary really but with the night lights should be better)

3. Sigma 10-20 @ 10mm, wonky buildings!

Well it looks like I'm out now :( the new job i took for club photos is on fridays and saturday nights so its a bit limiting how far i can travel right now. I'm a bit disappointed but i worked pretty hard to get some of these jobs so it's not all bad.

I can't wait to hear about it, and see some piccies.
