The annual Hunter Valley Steamfest is on again from April 18-19 centred around Maitland (30 mins from Newcastle). I plan on attending on the Saturday. Is anyone else interested in a mini photo-meet that day?

There will be steam trains as well as displays of steam farm and road equipment plus various other activities as outlined on the Steamfest site.

Pity I am going to miss this one - it's been one of the yearly highlights for me over recent years.

To anyone considering going, this really is a great weekend. It brings back an era when there was steam rising from everywhere you look. The sights, sounds, and smell of a time long past

Seriously, it's a long couple of days (well only as long as you decide to make it), but well worth it - try to get on one of the trains if you can
