The next of our regular 2x2 meets is to be held on Saturday 10th October 2009. This meet is on the South Coast of NSW, but is an easy 1 hour drive from Sydney (See Google Maps link HERE) We'll start at Bald Hill in Stanwell Park which is a favourite haunt of paragilders then drive to the southern end of Sea Cliff bridge where we'll leave our cars and take a leisurely stroll across the bridge and back before we head off to have a late lunch. More on the bridge HEREWe'll meet at the car park on Bald Hill at 9:30 am. If you're interested in participating - please indicate by posting below.
To give an idea of what you'll see - these are two images I took on a previous visit. Bald Hill looking south to Sea Cliff Bridge On the Sea Cliff bridge itself

I'm interested as it's 'reasonably' close to me. Only 1.5 hours away. Not as far as for you though Peter.
The 7-day weather prognosis is not good though, but that can change as quickly as the, er, the weather.

Could be some fun - I think I am free that day at this stage, regards the weather, I am willing to take punt, can't be much worse than the weather on this long w/e. Is there is planned car pooling? I have seen some interesting sunrise shots from down there, maybe if the weather turns out ok I might try and gun it for the sunrise Nonetheless, pencil me in...

Ok so at this stage it's Greg & Pam, Gerry & me (plus my two tour guides) plus a possible from Steve. Shaping up as the smallest meet yet. Those who don't will kick themselves when they see the great shots we bring back Weather forecast is looking OK - "isolated showers. South to southeast winds. " Should be good for the paragliders too. I specifically chose the walk over the bridge for now since it gets very hot with no cover once summer hits properly.

Peter Peter Peter...
I think you need to change these to odd months - they seem to keep coming up at times when I'm away.
...maybe I'm just timing my trips to avoid your meets? hrrmmmm...
Sorry mate - will have to give it a miss. I know those that do go will enjoy it, and look forward to some different perspectives on the bridge in particular.

I am gonna try and get down there for the sunrise...but no promises...its been a long week with very little sleep... I will check out times tonite and work out how little sleep i will get in order to get down there for a glimpse of sun - then knowing my luck it will be cloudy and a miserable sunrise anyways...

For Bald Hill (Lookout above Stanwell Park) Sunrise 06:21 Sunset: 19:04 Moonrise: 00:29 Moonset: 10:18 Courtesy of my GPSr Not sure if these are for the elevation of Bald Hill, or assume sea level. I would allow a couple of extra minutes just in case. We will be leaving home about Sunrise (It's 06:24 for us). Damn I hate driving into the sun.

I've been seeing it for well over a week - since Peter initiated it - and judging by the fact that others have responded to Peter's post, I suspect that they too have seen it.
Also, Peter posted this event into the calendar, where it appears as an item on the Portal Page.
I do recognise that there is some issue in terms of how items sometime render themselves, but I'm really at a loss as to how to help you any more in this. If you think that there are too few posts, jump to the recent posts tab and view the posts from there, changing your options till you see what you think you should be seeing.
And a daily visit to the Portal Page is always of value to me.

Gary, I will explain in a different thread so as not to clutter this one. I believe it is related to the way the "Last visit" works now. It certainly won't mean they everyone will miss this thread (or others) but some people will.

Yep weather was mediocre, but I had to raid the bickie barrel to get a few crackers. A quick look indicates my shots were average at best. (& that's my average, not the board's ) Rain held off though. Just a lazy wind & overcast/hazy conditions. We did have fun though. Great to meet a few new faces, though as usual, I can't remember names. I have finally worked out that biggerry is the one I look eye to kneecap with though. Another couple of meets & I'll work out his name A big thank you to Peter for organising this. We WILL come again.

There's a calendar we can post into
There's a calendar that Key Members and mods can post to. It's been on the Portal page for .... a very bloody long time. If ever there's anything that you feel should be added to it, just PM one of the KMs or Mods (or Leigh or myself) with the details and a link, and the item will be added for you.

Greg, If the skies were gray you may be forced to go BW or HDR or both to kick some life into them.... One could practice their sky replacement PS skills.

Except that I am a firm believer in showing what WAS there. Otherwise, I'd just buy the postcard I will admit to tweaking these days but only to the extent that the scene shows what I saw that the ^%$@# camera didn't capture. Now just when are they bringing out that telepathic link option So BW/ HDR remain options, except that I struggle adjusting WB

I'm with you there Greg...but I have to admit that I do play with the odd HDR here and there.
