Hi,
First, thanking LOZ for dropping off 2 litres pure methanol (98%) this afternoon. (It's same quality with the Eclipse fluid from Photographic Solution INC.) I've tested it on my D100/ D2h and other glass surfaces.
If any member wants to get this share, pls. bring along with you an empty plastic bottle at the mini meet on Saturday and I can share with you maximum of 100ml/ each member, this amount of methanol will last you few years in safe keeping condition.
IT"S FLAMMABLE & PLAY AT YOUR OWN RISK

Nice Birddy. Big thanks to LOZ.
Now we just need someone with free Pec Pads
I have a final bag of Gloria Jeans forks - this will be the last. Will bring them when I attend a meet sometime soon (prob the 21st meet).

Birdy,
Keep some to accompany dinner on Saturday night.
Hopefully it's a reasonable vintage.

... Now if anyone has a problem finding a suitable container, just drop in on your local pool shop and ask for a plasic bottle to place the water sample in for testing. They're free.

Go to your local pathology lab and grab some specimen jars.
But they probably wouldn't agree with the methanol, would they.

Specimen jars will be fine Gary, no worries. I'll see if I can't bring some excess containers too.

Good idea Matt and it comes in at under $2.50 a bottle - you'll be in heaven!

I guess that's what you call taking the solution to the container problem into your own hands
Leigh made me do it

It's good for cars too right?
*warning: silly statement. Do not use in your car.

Hehe Onyx, Champcars actually run on methanol, it has a very high equivalent octane rating, around 150 IIRC. But very toxic and burns with a colourless flame, dangerous stuff!

when i used to ski race the guy that owened a boat in our park on the hawkesbury used to have a 120gallon drum of this shit behind his caravan. and when we used to race we carried about 100 gallons on board our ski race boat. i did see one boat expload rounding a corner in our caravan park one day and because methanol has an invisible flame nothing seemed out of the ordinary. BUT the driver and the observer bailed out of the boat quick smart at about 80 miles per hour and the boat sank in flames in about 3 minutes
scary shit! THIS IS A DANGEROUS FLAMABLE CHEMICAL! HANDLE WITH CARE!

Hey if your giving away free methanol, i will be happy to take some off your hands!
Just remember, while methanol does burn clear, it is also a slow burning fuel. It doesnt have the energy that petrol has.
