Due to the interests and request from our members of the workshop and excursion on Stockton Beach, Sand dunes, The Sygna, The Tin City last week end, at Nelson Bay, Anna Bay and surrounded beaches.
A workshop & excursion will be held in late of August or the October long weekend.
Which date do you prefer?

My choice would be end of August - we already missed Stockton Beach meeting in July, so I cant wait 'till end of September!

Put your vote in and don't pull out at the last minutes

I voted already but last minute pulling out is my way
End of September is just more risky for being pulled out for me and this is another reason why I'm voting for August

I voted for end of August since I'd prefer that, but I'm also happy with the Long Weekend
I'm not so sure all you Sydney people would like the Long Weekend traffic between Sydney & Newcastle

Right, let me talk to Sam, because she would like to come too.
I reckon the end of August at the moment too. I'll get back to you.

August is good time, not too crowded up there and accomodation is also affordable.
Few spot of accomodations are around the area, mainly caravan parks or cabins are economical.

I'm interested - I'd need a spot in a 4WD.
I voted end of August.

End of August sounds about right for me. Can I bring a fishing rod?

I'll be O.S. so I can only go at the later date. I'll bring the same 4WD if it is the later date. Room for 7, but two people will be uncomfortable

Thanks Birdie
I think you would be missed more however - if Gary is the father of this site, you are its soul.
Will be gone for 3 weeks. Mauritius, France, Italy and Switzerland. August 23rd to the 12th of September. It is for work, but time for pleasure too hopefully.

Then we won't be able to see you again at the end of Sept. or say October Long weekend.
Take care & have fun on the trip and report on your return. I might have another workshop in the area during that time, it depends on the demand of members.

As tempting as this is Birdie, I'll have to give it a miss - maybe later in the year, or early next
I have no doubt this will become one of the favourite destinations of our group

Hmmmm. 4WDs may be a problem for this. I DEFINITELY want to go, but if we have problems getting spots I will not take a spot from someone who hasn't been before.

Or we may put it off untill October long Weekend.
Or charter a 4WD from local 4WD tours

Well, just to confsue matters, Lindy and I are hoping to be OS from Sept 22 till about Oct 15, so if we're going to come to this, August would be the more suitable timing there.

Hi Birddog,
had a great time at the last one, so I'm interested in going in August if it is on. If 4WD is a problem, I won't go on the beach but would still attend the mini-meet in the morning. That way, those that have not been on Stockton beach before can have a spot. I would then go to Tomaree and get some pics there instead. There should be some nice panoramas at the top and also the old WWII bunkers.
We should try to plan it for low tide so that we can get closer to the Signa. On Aug 20th, there is quite a low tide(0.29) at 14:18. On the 27th, low tide is at 7:36am and at 0.63m. As a comparaison, when we were there a few weekends ago, it wasn't quite low tide (two hours to go) and it was scheduled to be 0.63 as well.
Cheers,
Radar.

Would be great if you guys could make it. Glad you're enjoying the jacket. Of course this means you'd better avoid the meet next Saturday as I'll be there

Sydney - Newcastle by train is approx. 2.1/2 hours
From Newcastle to Nelson Bay by bus approx. 1 hour
From Nelson Bay to Anna Bay 20 min. by bus.
You might tag along with Geoff and share the seats on his car.
We will leave the base at Boat Harbour at 10:00 - 11:00am for Stockton Beach.

What time is the last train from NC to Sydney?
If we do sunset shooting, It might be too late for them to go back NC and jump on the train to Sydney.

Yes, I know NC is a BIG CITY in a small town as the TIN CITY
So if we do this way, then no one will stay back and enjoying dinner in the Bay or doing the sunrise on Sunday morning over the Stockton beach.

Thanks for the offer Peter.
Just spoken to Sam and she is thinking we might stay the night somewhere. Not sure what everyone else is up to that night, but it would mean we could have a few drinks and some din dins.

I don't think Matt + Sam will get to the Central Station at 5:52am nor at 7:21am.
The only way is fly to NC.
