We'll be getting together for a bar-b-cue (or sandwiches, or Kentucksky Fried Buzzard) along the waterfront in the Sans Souci/Brighton Le Sands area for an exchange of ideas and techniques.
If you're a particularly good little person, you may even get to play with a VR lens or two.
Views from this area include an excellent viewpoint towards Mascot Airport and planes taking off and landing, as well as, if the weather is kind to us, the possibility of watersports on Botany Bay.
I'll try to scout the area out over the next few days in order to find a suitable and obvious meeting point.
But in the ineterim, add your name if you think you'll be there.

I'll have some shooting in the morning at the Monastery but I'll be there with all my 3VRs:24-120, 80-400, 70-200 and number of other Nikkor lenses:12-24DX, 17-35f2.8, 20-35f.2.8, 28f1.4, 50f1.4, 85/ f1.4, 105f2.0DC,70-210 f4-5.6, Tamron 28-75, 90mm Macro, 180mm Macro, of course with my D2H + D100 + D70, will loan to members on the spot for try on your cam.
Perhaps too early to organize a bbq at this time but we can find many spots along Brighton Le Sands for quick lunch or coffee.
My suggestion for rendez vous point:
1/A St George Sailing Club (Sans Souci) at the end near Captain Cook Bridge.
2/Old Airport Control Tower.
3/Novotel Brighton Le Sands on The Grand parade & President Ave.
4/One of the many car parks along on The Grand Parade between Sans Souci & Brighton Le Sands

I am keen. Don't know the area well, but I would suggest somewhere close to a carpark otherwise we will have to send a forklift to get Birddog's gear

Gary,
Lot of car park along the Grand Ave. you perhaps mark a rendez-vous point first with the nearest street

Yep. I just need to scope out the area and find one that will be suitable. It's been a very long time since I've been in that area.
2nd meet..

Just a note - I'm a tad concerned that perhaps a couple of people here think that this meeting is tommorow.
It's not; it's next weekend - September 4.
And Ray, I think that we'd be thrilled to see you down here.

Hi Glen,
There's a picnic area about opposite Florence St Ramsgate, on the Grand Parade, and another one a bit further along, opposite Ramsgate Ave.
We will need to wing it slightly on the day, in case other people are there occupying the area(s) we have in mind, but my thoughts are that either one of these should be suitable, subject to them not being otherwise over crowded with screaming kiddies or whatever.
My mobile is 0400 817 042, but try these two areas (in order) first. Look for my GTV, and a gaggle of Manfrottos.

This is getting to be more like an automotive meet than a photographic one.

Onyx,
I've just posted an Events notice for the airshow in Nowra which will feature a display of Alfas.
Cars, planes, boats ... cameras ...
Getting back to tomorrow's event, here's a small map of where I expect we'll be.

I'll be flying an invisible 2008 Aurora that's small enough to fit inside dad's GTV.

Hi All,
So far, I can see that the meet today at Ramsgate only has 4 members including myself, am I correct?
Anyone else?

I don't think so.
You, me, Leigh, Glen, Killakoala (Steve), ThinkPic and his wife should be there too.

Greek, yes.
Mexican, no. There is only one half-decent Mexican eatery in Sydney, and that's Azteca's in Randwick.
I'll be bringing along a few nibblies as well - dips and stuff like that.
