Cameta auctions Ebay?Hi everyone,
Does anyone have any experience with Cameta auctions on ebay?? The D2H looks very tempting
Cameta mostly sells second hands, or Nikon refurbished, Nikon demo gear,
Yesterday on DPR couple threads mentioned, they bought the bodies from Cameta, some of them got 45000 shutter counts other has 450. So it's your luck to try and get one of them, especially we're on the other side of the world, warranty is an issue with all Nikon second or factory refurbished equipments. Part of it there's a GST portion add on + shipping. Birddog114

No experience, but know they sell a lot of factory refurbished stock. Tried to buy a lens from them once. Be aware that North American companies generally declare the paid price, so duty/GST would be payable on top.
$2000US @ BHPhoto if you can manage to get them to ship it.

D2h hmm they look ok if you can also afford some decent long VR F2.8 lense's ... to take advantage of the superior continous shutter capabilities.
THe D70 according to many reviews offers better colour definition and the ability to blow your images up larger if thats your thing. The D2h does have the vertical grip, and the magnesium shell that is supposed to be weatherproof. Both excellent camera's IMHO. For the current price I don't think you could pass up on a D70 ... the D2x well that's another story.
Save up your money and go for the D2x next month Aussie 6k. Why should you settle for the D2h? Birddog114

i was going for the d2h at first.... but for now i'm waiting until PMA is over and see what announcements nikon make.... i can't put my finger on it, but there's something about the d2x that i'm not impressed about...
a d100 replacement would tickle my interest.... http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
What make you dislike the D2x? and what do you hope to get in the replacement of D100? Birddog114

-slower frame rate than the d2h -iso only goes to 800 -not overly sold on the half sensor crop to increase burst speed it just doesn't seem to follow nikon's quality... but that's just personal gut feeling...
a canon 20d beater, with all of the fine qualities which were built into the d2h, plus mirror lockup... http://www.markcrossphotography.com - A camera, glass, and some light.
D2x does has upto ISO 3200. ISO 1600 and 3200 are hidden from idiots. ie. the std ISO dial is only within the 100 to 800 range, you have to know that you want 1600 or higher for the camera to respond to your needs.
I don't know about your perceived "not following Nikon quality", the D2X uses exactly the same external body as the current D2H. The majority of its internals are also shared - the only difference are the refined exposure and flash metering, and of course the sensor and corresponding viewfinder crop marks.
xerubus,
Onyx said it all, the D2x will be better or more better than the D2h of course, Nikon quality?how can we debate this one? no ones has it yet and no one can real tell other fellows their experiences of handling and using it, I'll wait to see what the debate is, on some other forums, a hold bunch of whingie people, and they never happy with what they got, every camera, since they first released they always bash and flame, but at the end they source it, cry hard if they can't their hands on. Like the D70/ D2h or other Nikon DSLR in its history, people whinge and bashed them but now, you've to get one of them in your hand. Replacement of D100: It's still in the dream of everyone, want this, want that, guessing, and once Nikon announced it, there are continuing flame and bash. Never fulfil the commitments to all the consumers. My conclusion:I play with all I can afford, each has pros and cons, their values are at the guy who has the camera, not the camera speaks itself. At the sensor crop, you're still shooting at 6MP though, which is effectively the same resolution as the D70, but much faster, and somewhat better resolution than the D2h, but again, somewhat faster. And you also get a 2x crop factor from your lenses, plus an out of frame viewfinder to help you compose your images. g.

Hey guys. I can pick up the D2H here locally for $2549 CAD, which is about $2660 AUD. $2000 USD is about $2610AUD, so not a huge difference. If anyone wants one I can pick it up and send it to you. Whatever shipping is, is what you can pay. Plus, I can send it as a gift so you can avoid tax and duty.
If anyone is interested I'll hook you up. http://www.thecamerastore.com/ProductDetails.aspx?productID=28067
Neeper, Thanks for thoughts about the people from Down Under, warranty is an other issue, which lot of people don't want to gamble on, even the D70 purchase from HKG about $1500.00 but people still stayed away from it. To send a camera worth AU$2600.00, you need to insure it with the same purchased price, No rules in Australia allow any people receiving gifts over AU$1000.00 by Australia Post, GST & Customs clearance will be applied, the only way you can do it by declaring the value of it less than AU$500 and insure it by AU$500, but then who's going to take the risk? Ok that's cool. I am not trying to step on your territory, Birdy. I never thought about the insurance issue. But it makes sense you can not accept a gift over $1000. Canada probably has a law like that too. I am just offering my services, since I owe so much to all of you. I have gained a lot of free knowledge and made a nice friend out of Onyx.
Neeper, This is not my territory, I don't own and govern it my experiences in these stuffs from my daily dealing with all sources from o/s and local. Hard to beat those prices from the US, Canada is more expensive than HKG, if people can buy from Canada with more easier life, they will buy from HKG with prices far more better. Birddog114
