Fast on line international buying experience

Postby johnd on Mon Feb 25, 2008 7:42 pm

How's this for a fast on line buying experience from an international vendor?

I placed an order on Tuesday for a D300 and 18-200 for my wife, Alison.
I paid the money into the vendor's Australian bank account on Wednesday.
On Thursday, I received an advice that the gear was shipping from Hong Kong with tracking details.
The gear arrived at our door in Hobart today (Monday).

Now that's what I call a fantastic international buying experience.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. The vendor was Poon via Gary and this forum.

Alison is currently sitting down with her first non hand-me-down camera and lens, reading the manual and waiting for the battery to charge.

Thanks heaps Poon and Gary.

Lucky Alison! Hope the battery charging doesn't take too long.

I can beat that delivery time, John, my last order from RRS arrived before their email saying it had been sent!

That's not a valid measurement. I frequently get shipping advices after the items have shipped, and often not at all. The real measure of time if comparing from when the item was paid, until it has been delivered.

The record from HK stands at one business day. A Nikkor 400mm f/2.8, paid for after 12:30pm on a Friday, shipped by 7:30 the same evening, delivered lunch the following Monday
