Talked down the camera house people situated at Warringah Mall Brookvale Sydney on a Micro Trekker200 from $200 to $129 over two days. Glad they came around as I really need that bag for tommorrow.

I was just in Paxtons looking at the Orion, their price was $159, I wanted to see if they would price match Digital City $99.99. NO WAY we can't buy it for that much was the reply... Some one is making profit somewhere. BTW this forum is just awesome I have spent the first two days just looking. Thought I better get my feet wet!!

You might want to consider the minni trekkor AW as a bag. The micro 200 is awfully small and you will outgrow it. Also the AW has a system for carrying a tripod and has a rubber raincoat in-built. I think it's worth the extra few dollars.

Matt.K said it all, you'll look same as the "Teddy bear goes to school" with that micro trekker 200, it's recommended for ladies.

I bought a micro trekker when I bought my camera last December. I replaced it with a mini trekker a few weeks back because it was too small already. Go the Mini.

Crikeys now I am having second thoughts after reading your posts and having a look at the bag fully packed! I do see what you mean, at present It looks fine but there is not much room for growth

It depends on your needs.
I have the MicroTrekker (bought from Birdy, he didn't tell me then it was for ladies! ), and recently took it to New Zealand.
In it were:

D70 + kit lens
SB800
50mm 1.4
12-24 DX
70-300 D
+ CF cards, iPod, filters, batteries, cleaners etc

I can honestly say I wouldn't want anything bigger. This bag is perfect for getting around as long as you don't have bulk gear.

The 70-200Vr will fit into the microtrekker 200 but not with many other lenses + gadgets.

The minitrekker is perfect with most all the gears you have, and the bag is not bigger than the Microtrekker 200, lot of members (Sydney) upgraded to the mintrekker after they have the Microtrekker. Keep it as spare bag for your wife (I knew, she got one).

You can tell her the bag now is discontinued and no replacement of it, could be worth to have it a spare.

you also didn't tell me that the Micro Trekker 200 was for ladies when I bought it from you !

I can fit a D70 Kit, 50mm, TC-17EII, SB800, 70-200VR and bits and pieces such as filters, battery, remote, pen and paper.
If I had additional lenses and I wanted to travel with my entire D70 household a larger bag would become a necessity.
I might get a larger size bag and perhaps keep the Micro Trekker.

As Christian said, you could get it in this bag, but you wouldn't be carrying much else.
I think to include the 70-200 VR plus reasonable other kit, ou'd need something bigger.

How heavy do you think? 30Kgs?
The bag is for transit, same as my 200-400VR, got a difference backpack.
I use photovests or harness & belt when I'm shooting. Bag is not good when you do shooting and I hate to put the bag down and grab the gears as lens, filters, batteries, CF cards.
I have all my needs in the pockets of the vest and ready to fire and swap.

I knew there was a better way to carry things so is this your only hobby or main one should I say, and have maybe others on the side like cars or stockmarket ?

Apart from photography, i have full collection of military items as flight helmet, flight suits, military patches, german made mugs, etc..but not interesting in car and stock market.

My Grandfather was in the Britsh army in HK back in those days, still got his Kruger knife I think thats what they call it, collector's item now i guess

Like cricketfan the reason I moved from micro to mini was to fit my 70-200 with my other gear.

Yeah we have it now, he passed away ages ago, even have his rifle that he used back then, still and great condition and usable till this day...anyway enough hijacking of this thread back to mini trekkers and bags

Well its really cool to read how you blokes get around, thankyou all for your responses..

After some thought i am still quite happy with my new bag.
I know my camera and three primary zooms are snug tight, I have modified one side to fit a separate bag full of cleaning stuff, all my cards/charger/spare battery, leads etc also all have a home & I have left the front spot free for a sanga or two.

There is a tripod system on the bottom of the bag too (which I havent tried out yet but looks good enough to do the job)

There is not much room for growth I know - I maybe in the future could swap the cleaning area for another mid size lens - and hey if someone calls me a girl that would be fun too.

I keep you posted on how it works with me.

i got my 200 from photographic wholesalers Hutt St Adeliade for $109 yesterday- no haggling, just asked a price over the phone and that was what i got- so rushed in....
