Overseas SB900 purchase?Hi everyone
I'm looking to purchase 4xSB900's so obviously looking to try and minimise the expense. Average retailers are charging $900+ in Australia and taking a quick look at B&H in the US SB900's are around half price. Any reasons I should not look at such an option to save cash? I understand I will have no warranty and wouldn't risk this with a camera purchase but I'm willing to take the gamble with the flashes. Heck, I could replace one or two flashes entirely if there was something wrong and still be miles ahead financially. Am I missing something? Cheers Mark
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase? When we were away, we purchased an SB-900 in Singapore, and no problems whatsoever.
I can't see any issues with purchasing these from overseas. Cheers Tom
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase? You won't have no warranty if you buy from a decent online seller. It will just be 'return to seller' warranty.
Have a look at Citiwide Online. I've brought from them a couple of times with no problems. There's a thread in this section about them. http://www.citiwideonline.com/au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=shop.flypage&product_id=1962&category_id=118&manufacturer_id=0&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?Mark, be aware at that quantity you will pay Customs Duty (over $1k) unless you get them sent individually (then you may still pay, Customs have the right to aggregate purchases) but freight will hurt. Otherwise most are happy with overseas purchases, this forum even has a connection with a supplier overseas for Nikon, Canon, etc. PS Can you put your location in your profile?

Re: Overseas SB900 purchase? Thanks for the replies, most helpful.
It's been a long time since I purchased any gear and most of it was back in the film days where options were not what they are now. I do like the Citiwide site and thought there likely are better ways than going the overseas route. I think I really need to spend some time going through all the threads in this forum, great place btw! Glen, profile filled. Thanks again and please post more opinions if possible, would love to read them.
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?Doesn't Nikon Australia warranty cover accessories no matter where it was bought? I know this applies to Canon accessories.
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?
Nope. Sorry, Nikon won't cover a thing thats grey. Same as Tamron. =D Canon | Sony | Panasonic | Tamron | Sigma

Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?
this is mostly true.....because they treat all ebay purchases as 2nd hand goods, but if you have bought the product direct from the dealer overseas (provided that you have a stamped dealer card) then they will honour the warranty. But this is a rarity to be able to get unless you are at the dealership, and the dealer in question is an authorised Nikon reseller (many dealers are not) so Marcus's comment is mostly true. Cameron

Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?
So, buying from B&H, getting the warranty stamped etc would be okay? 2x D700, 2x D2h, lenses, speedlights, studio, pelican cases, tripods, monopods, patridges, pear trees etc etc

Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?
Almost as if Nikon/Tamron didn't make them! I have a feeling that this will be the same for Canon goods. I have no idea how to find out though. Thoughts?
Re: Overseas SB900 purchase?
I would be led to believe so....
I think the same is true with Canon Aust..... Cameron
