Coolpix 5700 Help - lines through pictures

Hello all, I have been given a coolpix 5700 to 'have a look at'. The main symtoms are these lines through every picture.

I checked the firmware and it says it is 1.1. I downloaded that firmware again to see if I could overwrite it and the camera wont let you do that!

I went into the menu and reset all, but that hasn't helped.

I just took another shot with it and it completely froze up and wouldn't even turn off, had to take the battery out to reset it.

Help!

Hmmm....I've got one of these and I've never experienced this fault. I think you might have to get Nikon look at it, if it's not too expensive it's worth getting fixed.
