There is no one setting for unsharp mask. This is a tool used on images only, and not your camera. Have a look here http://www.russellbrown.com/tips_tech.html and all you have to do is watch, there is a section on sharpen images, but could be a bit advanced, but no harm in watching
this site also http://myjanee.home.insightbb.com/tutorials.htm EDIT: Also look up the help menu in Photoshop Cheers ....bp....
Difference between a good street photographer and a great street photographer.... Removing objects that do not belong... happy for the comments, but .....Please DO NOT edit my image..... http://bigpix.smugmug.com Forever changing
There is no perfect setting for unsharp mask, it depends on the image and the finished look you want.
The amount slider determines the amount of sharpening you want The Radius slider determines how many pixels out from the edge the sharpening will affect The threshold slider determines how different one pixel is from the surrounding pixels If you want a few "generic" settings you could try these on for size: Subtle applications 125% Radius 1 Threshold 10 Maximum sharpening 65% Radius 4 Threshold 3 All Purpose Sharpening 85% Radius 1 Threshold 4 You can experiment to get the look that you want but generally speaking "amount" ranges run from 50-150%, Radius 1-4 and Threshold 3-20 (with 3 being more severe and 20 more subtle. Scott Kelby's books give good tips on unsharp mask and much of the above is derived from his settings. Stuart 'Tis better to have loved and lust than never to have lust at all.
