D70 newbie

Hi all,

I'd just like to say as a new user what a great site this is!

After many months of research I finally bought a D70 as my entry into amateur photography AND found a web site with like minded enthusiasts

Having not "noticed" the world around me as much before I can understand why photographer friends now tell me you look at things differently.

Personally I've found digital photography to be a great way to learn photography although I'm still trying to read as much as possible and shoot everything!

Now I just have to get through the thounsands of articles before hopefully contributing myself

Here's my first question

I've seen a few people host their photos on pixspot and pbase.

Can anyone recommend a good site to post my pics to ?

Hi everyone, I am also a newbie to both the D70 and this website. I am extremely impressed with both. I have only had the D70 for a few months and cannot stop raving about it.

My question is, I had a look at the Pixspot site(which I joined up) that you have been discussing and unless I am missing something, could not find my way to the section on specifications for uploading(file size etc.) can someone point me in the right direction.

Hi Steve.

When you sign into Pixspot, hover your cursor over the @ symbol along the top. You'll see some more navigation options pop up in orange under the symbol. Click on "Upload File" and you'll be tqaken to a new page. The instructions are written in black in the dark grey section - a little hard to read!

From there... I just click on "Browse" and find the images on my hard drive. I would have already resized them for uploading. I generally size them down to fit full size on the screen and bring the file size down to no more than 250kb - even less if you can without losing too much.

Simon is right about the instructions being hard to see, I find it a lot easier to read if I higlight the text with the mouse.

Fozzies a tad off here - we actually have members all over the world now.

As Leigh said, you've made one more post than maybe half of the membership here, which is great for you, and sad for them, in that those people won't get the same benefits from here as you're llikely to enjoy. Kick your shoes off, tell us more about yourself, why you chose a D70, what do you do in your other lives, and basically make yourself at home.

And remember, the only silly question is the one you fail to ask.

Choosing a digital SLR was kind of the next step for me, being able to see the results immediately both good and bad. I had a rough budget in mind, around $2000 so when Canon released the 300D I had almost made up my mind.

I read many reviews on the net, one site which I found very extensive, being http://www.dpreview.com. Then Nikon released the D70 and the general consensus was that it was an exceptional product giving Canon a run for its money. I ummed and aared but decided on the Nikon and I'm not sorry I did.
