I just ordered the King Pano to go with my Benro A328 that I picked up yesterday.. thanks again birddog.

For those that have played with it.. is it difficult to set up.. Is it something that is really finicky? Is the nodal point something you can find quickly, and then the next time you attach the camera, you use the exact same settings and away you go, or do you have to find the nodal point every time you connect the camera?

Sorry about all the questions. I want to get into some panoramas..

I would like to be able to place the camera on it, and point it at a scene, and it's set to go.. Am I hoping for something not possible, or is that how it works?

I had a look at that.. I'm going to be using my 24-120VR lens which isn't listed.

Is it easy to find the nodal point? I'm just wondering why more people haven't posted nodal points for different lenses.. unless it's so easy that people don't feel the need to bother

This info is also on the King pano site......... or try the nodal points close to what lens you are using.......... or use the suck and see method.......

I guess I was expecting to see more than 6 lenses.

Not a problem.. I'll experiment when I get it. If worst comes to worst, i'll bring it to a minimeet and get some help. I should be able to figure it out though.

Where's your kit lens? sold?
The 24-120Vr is not a good ideal to use in pano photography, and its focal lenght is over the lenght of the Pano King, which is not easy to help you to settle a nodal point with the glass.

Actually, I still have my 18-70mm kit lens.. After bigpix mentioned that's what he uses, and I gave it a bit of thought, it made more sense to me that that's what I should use.

so yeh.. I'll be using the kit lens, so the nodal values on the website should be good..

I'm just reading more about the King Pano.. and it occured to me..

Apparently the socket is a standard 3/8 inch tripod socket.

Does the Benro A328 have a 3/8 inch screw? I'm used to my crappy Velbon tripod which has a small screw as opposed to the large one on the Benro. I don't know which sizes they are.

edit: I just read further and found it comes with an insert which converts it to 1/4 if you need it.. but i'm still interested what the size is of the Benro.

Yes, the Benro has the 3/8" screw.

And you already have it in your hand, why shouldn't you try?

Few more things:

Does the King Pano come with the leveling base? I doubt it's :?:

If the King Pano does not come with the leveling base, then you have to use the ballhead and use the supplied plate to attach to the King Pano, plus using the bubble level spirit mounted on the hotshoe.

It's the quickest way to adjust and leveling your pano gear.

Other alternative way is adjusting the tripod height, but it's inconvenience and required lot of time on the difference level of terrains/ surfaces.

Usually the best way is the most expensive way! :lol:

RRS has outstanding quality and is technically perfect, just bloody expensive!

That i'm not sure about.. I'll have to wait until I have it to see, although, I wouldn't think so. I guess you get what you pay for :wink:

I think you can - here is a picture. There are 3 wheels/cogs what ever you want to call them....

I don't see why you could not adjust the level with the other bits of the King Pano attached.
