Hi everyone;

I have just purchased a cheap Epson r210 to do text printing.

The pictures i have printed out are very dark compared to the photo that i have taken.

I have tried all the settings and have had no joy.Im just wondering if anyone could let me know if there are any hidden tricks before i take it back cause its like the machine hasnt been calibrated properly.

Have you mentioned that you use this printer to do text printing?
And now talking into printing picture? Have you calibrated your screen?

more information......what program are you using to print your photos, are you pc or mac, and has your screen been profiled.........

Ive just bought this cheapie until i can afford the R2400.

To my inexperience Bird-dog i thought that you basically load the printer and off you go.

Calibrating now im lost.I have copied many photos to cd and have had them printed out at harvey norman etc and have had no trouble.

If you can explain this to me if you have time i would appreciate it

John,
Do a search on "Spyder II"' or calibrating monitor or profiling, you'll find heap of infos about printing, calibrating same as profiling.
Send your photos to HN is difference with the works you're doing at home on your printer with your monitor.
It's the world of digital printing as big pix mentioned.

I think im a bit simple actually but have got a feeling that it is a faulty printer

John, agree with Birddy, calibrate the screen first, the most likely component to be wrong. I have the R310 and it is a great printer for the money

unless you setup the program you print from ie: photoshop, you will never get a good print.........are you printing in s RGB or Adobe RGB 1998 as these will give different results, I can only help if you are using photoshop

have a look at the epson site, there is a wealth of printer info there........and as matt K said, your printer stock also comes into play for good prints......

Glass eye, when I bought mine the images seemed dark even after using epson stock. Calibrated the monitor and bingo it all worked for me. Your problem, of course may be different
