Post processing of RAW files

Hi,

I've been using rawshooter to do my editing of NEF files but recently acquired photoshop. However, because rawshooter doesn't edit the original raw file but saves the settings made to it, is there anyway for me to open the images in photoshop with the rawshooter changes?

Thank you in advance.

Hmmm...

Hi Lowster.
If you're happy with the changes you've made in Rawshooter, can you not save it as a JPEG or TIFF and then open that file in Photoshop? Otherwise, you could open the original RAW in Camera Raw (Photoshop plug-in) and do your changes there, bypassing Rawshooter completely.

No doubt others will have better solutions or suggestions for you..

It's a while since I've used RSE, but as Simon says, in the save dialogue when you save as jpg or tiff, you can specify a program to open the resulting file, i.e. you'd choose PS to open the file once it's saved.

Thanks to you both. I knew I could convert it to JPEG first using RSE, but was a bit concerned at the loss of quality from further editing a JPEG image in photoshop. Maybe TIFF is the way to go.

Thanks.

My current workflow is to open in Rawshooter, get the temperature right, get the contrast right and further retouch hues if still a bit out then batch convert to JPEG (if a basic home photo that will never exceed 4*6) or TIFF if I think it's a shot that I may do some more work on or blow up.

In PS all I'm doing is trimming the shot, fine tuning colour, and a bit of noise reduction/sharpening if required.

It's a fairly laborious process but worth the trouble. In general I've got about 5-10 times as many keepers as I used to have in my film days
