I know I'm leaving this very late and everyones probably out enjoying their NYE rather than reading these forums, but if anyone is still around I have a quick question.

I've just decided to head out to Nelson Bay for the fireworks. Does anyone have any tips for camera settings? I have the Nikon D70 with a Nikkor 70-300mm lens and a Nikkor 28-70mm.

I was planning on using the 70-300 in Manual mode, 200 ISO, f9.0, focus to infinity and shutter set to Bulb on tripod with remote shutter release.

Would these be the best settings to use? any suggestions?

Thanks - Have a happy New Year. :P

Hi,
there are still a few of us rolling around, I'd suggest doing a quick search, as Fireworks and suggested settings have been provided in a number of threads. I know a number of people suggest using a black card, or something to obscure the lens during breaks, so you have more control over what gets to the sensor.

I'd also say check between the first few shots that the exposure looks ok on the LCD, if not then dial it up or down to suit. Good luck, have a safe NYE's and look forward to your shots next year!!!

I'm no expert, but my ideas

One q? is that the 28-70 or do you mean the 18-70 kit lens?

Either way I would use the kit and Not use the 70-300. Unless you are that far away.

With the kit klens try f8-9 and try different lenght eposures on a tripod.

Most of all have fun
