Hi All
The photo's that I take with blue sky in them seem very washed out and some one here suggested that I use a polarising filter to give it a deeper blue colour.
My finepix s9500 takes a 58mm filter and what I would like to know is, can I buy any 58mm filter and screw on or do they have different threads and I need to buy one to suit my camera.
Thanks
Andrew

A polariser will give a darker more saturated blue when you are photographing the most polarised part of the sky, ie 90 degrees from the Sun. It wont have any effect other than costing you a couple of stops when near the sun or opposite the sun. It is also useful for cutting out reflections from shiny surfaces such as glass, water, leaves etc.
I'm not familiar with filter attachment with the Finepix s9500, but filter threads are pretty well standard for regular filters on lenses designed to take a threaded filter. Stick with a good brand like Hoya and you cant really go wrong.

Andrew, i had a S7000 and i had to buy a seperate attachment to screw on an extension tube so i could add filters on as mine was 55m. Now i know the smaller Fuji i think the 6500 came with it and not sure about your s9500, but if it has it then all u need is the size filter and screw on the from of the tube. I brought mine from ebay, filters that is for around $20.

Easiest thing to do is take the camera with you and try it on before you buy it, that way you're sure.

I had an s5000, which I think had a 55mm thread. I bought a stepup ring and a 58mm Canon TC for it, with no problems with the thread. Bought the Canon because it was the cheapest one in the best size for it, not because of the thread being the right one. I don't think you'll have probs.
