Cleaning problem - advice sought!

hello all
When I look thru the viewfinder, I have 2 spots visible (dust/dirt?). One is sharp and the other is blurry.
Without thinking about it too much, I gave my camera a clean yesterday including cleaning the sensor x 2 with air rocket then 2 x wet clean
Sensor, Mirror, focussing screen, viewfinder, lens front and rear elements all look clean - but the spots remain when I look thru the view finder.
I now realize that the spots are not on the sensor....
Any ideas on what to do next?

They might be on the peice of glass between the mirror and the eyepeice? I've had them there before.

They are on the inside of the focusing screen. They do no harm whatsoever...just look crappy. You can drop the screen....instructions are on the WWW somewhere. It is not difficult but the chances of getting it back up with less dust are scant. If they bother the hell out of you let me know and I'll dig up the step by step instructions on how to clean them off.

They do bother me a bit - but I am also bothered by how they got there!
I thought I was doing a pretty good job of keeping my camera clean....

And well you may be.
But your camera is not a dust-free environment: far from it.
The seal between your mirror box and the pentamirror is anything but airtight, and this is likely to happen, as you can see.
As Matt suggested, clean it, or live with it.

Gecko, I just live with it and usually find in a few months it has moved. Try dropping it regularly and you could probably speed that process up

Mind you mine gets dirty as hell when at Moto Cross, but give it a ruff blow and put up with it.

It is a toss up between having a clean VF and possibly scratching the focus screen. Those things are very easily scratched and the scratches, no matter how fine are more of an annoyance than a couple of specs. Scratch it in the wrong place and you'll be up for a new one.
While you are in there, you definitely do not want to make contact between skin and the mirror. The oil from skin apparently reacts with the silver finish on the mirror.

I've tried to clean mine, but what you will probably do is replace it with some other bit of fluff, or rearrange it.

Gecko, uhmm No. Ok i do my sensor but have not piulled the screen out, but have had that link for a long time in my goodies links that i have collected over time and when i seen your post thought it could help. I just give mine a blow and gets most of it, but really should do it oneday but i dont have any tweezers to do the job, so i gues it is safe for now.LOL
