I am trying to crop a picture to make an avatar and am having trouble getting it below 6kB.
I have gone into image size, reduced the height and width to 40 pixels, then reduced the ppi to 40, and the picture is still 56kB...
Do you know what I am doing wrong? Thanks.

I had the same problem. Save it as a Gif (or is it Giff)? file.

In the end I don't think my problem was the file type- I was using the wrong save option. As Nnnnsic suggested, once I used the "Save for web" option, I could save it as a jpeg and the size was fine...
