Flash sync speed override when using commander mode

Flash sync speed override when using commander mode

Postby rokkstar on Wed May 17, 2006 10:13 am

I've done a quick search but it didn't really answer what I'm after.

Basically, I know you can trick the d70 to have a flash sync higher than 1/500 by taping over all but the centre connector on the hotshoe.
Does anyone know of a way to override it when using the onboard as commander?

So if my two flash units were set on remote can I still tape over the connectors whilst using the popup flash to trigger them? To my mind this wouldnt work. Or would I need a cord?

Cheers

The best that you could do is to tape the contacts and do everything manually and SU4. You need an external flash on the camera. AFAIK, there is no way to overide the flash sync on the internal flash.

That's what I thought.
So I'd need a further flash set to SU4 mode to control two more strobes with the flash sync faster than 1/500.

Thanks for the reply Matt.

I think there are not many ways, but you can't get it straight out from the camera's own commander mode with built in flash poped up...

- get a sync cord, and tape the contacts

- put at least one flash on camera with taped contacts
