Transporting Prints

Hi all,
I haven't looked into this in great detail and don't think it's been asked before. Now that I'm doing a few more larger size prints A3+ and keeping them etc to show family/clients I was wondering if anyone out there had a good way of transporting them without them getting damaged? I have an artists type plastic folder, but this isn't fool proof. Just wondering how any of you transport your bigger prints without damaging them. I look forward to replies and or suggestions. Thanks in advance,

When I had large format prints sent to me (larger than a3), it was sent in a fairly thick tube. If it's for a short period of time, it should be fine so that no curling will occur.

I use a solid tube as well for larger prints.

Are you talking about posting them? Or just carrying them around with you?

Like the others a large diameter tube for posting.

But for carrying around, at uni I had a plastic case type folio, about an inch or so thick, handle for carrying. Not too expensive and did the job of looking after any pics in a car or on the train.

Danny - posting sometimes but I meant mainly for transporting. I will have to look into that folio type thing u mention with a handle. Thanks for your help

Matt.K - another alternative - I could cut them up like a jigsaw puzzle, not only do they get a photograph but one they can put together themselves?

Have a look in the Art Supplies shop on Victoria Ave, Chatswood (near the intersection with Penshurst Street)... It has a really good selection of Art Portfolios...

It also has the best collection of photography books that I've ever seen...

There's also a good art store in the city (I'll find its address for you later on) as well as down here in Bondi on Bondi Road.

The advantage to both of these places is that the people from Oxford Art (who usually have bad attitudes) don't work there.

Glad you clarified that Leigh... I found the young hip-trendy guys at Chatswood to be quite helpful...
