will Sigma APO 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens work fine with D70?

a friend of mine is selling his sigma apo telephoto apo 135-400mm F4.5-5.6 lens as i am interest of buying it, since its 400mm range is a long one, will it work fine on the D70 and is the picture clear? is other brand of lens okay with nikon? thanks in advanced. -neil

Neil, I have never used this lens, but if it is a freiends lens, hopefully he would let you try before you buy.

That way you can see if you are happy with the quality it produces.

Neil - it really depends on the kind of photography you are contemplating. For sports it would not be ideal with f/5.6 at 400mm. Keep in mind that the higher the focal length the more any movement at the camera (i.e. shake) will be magnified at the end of the lens.

he does not use much of the lens thats why he is selling it.

thanks matt, i might try first the lens before getting it if i decide later.
