As Glen said, yes you can. Be aware however that the lens is a very average performer until stopped down to at least f8. I bought one with my old F70 and was never overly happy with it.

There are two versions of the AF-D 35-80/f4-5.6. The first one (typical AF Nikkor look and metal mount) is actually surprisingly good. It is very sharp and has excellent contrast, the only flaw is the distortion (esp barrel at the wide end). Is has an aspherical element.

The later version (cheap looking, plastic mount, very narrow focusing ring) doesn't come close. It's a different optical formula and doesn't have the aspheric.

Which one are you looking at?

Cheers
Steffen.

From the photo online is looks like a metal mount...but they did say it was a "D".

I will find out in a few days

There is no non-D version of this lens. I can't find the auction, do you have a link?

Cheers
Steffen.

That's the new version, unfortunately. But for $60 you can't complain. At least it is black

Cheers
Steffen.

I am still happy...$60 isn't that much these days :?

$60 is probably 1/4 tank of petrol for your plane

just a tad off. to fully fill the twin is about $457+gst

$500 for a tankful is fair hit, even makes my Cadillac look cheap. Your plane probably eats it too, I know the Cadillac is costing $1 a minute at the moment, either idling or moving.

$90/hr...saying this that equals to about 300km's

Ree, I am envious, at $60hr in Sydney traffic that can equate to 3 km

I know...I love flying out on a friday afternoon for a LONG weekend...I look down and have a good laugh at the traffic fighting to get out.

I dont miss that part!!!

But flying can have its draw backs...like cost and weather!

You must laugh your head off Ree. I actually dont leave Sydney on long weekends for that reason
