Hi, I think I have decided on the Nikon D80 'enthusiast kit'. I have read a few threads here that speak of the D80 firmware upgrade. If I buy this camera now (thinking of HK supplies off ebay) will I still need to do this upgrade. Can anyone comment please - again this is all new to me. Cheers, David PS. Has there been only one firmware upgrade for the D80?

The firmware will either be up-to-date in a new camera or be a previous version. To update firmware is a simple matter of downloading from the web and then installing on the camera - full and explicit instructions can be found on Nikon websites It’s not hard to do

Alternatively, stick around for a while, read the FAQ, make a few contributions to the forum - and then buy the D80 through here (at a better price that the HK Supplies ebay shop).

Someone more versed in this spiel might be better able to explain it better than I, but check out the FAQ

I've done the upgrade. Takes about 5 minutes. Can't say I've noticed any difference, but an upgrade is an upgrade.
