Rechargeable batteries for the D70 and tripod...I was wondering if there are any higher capacity batteries for the D70? I wouldn't mind if it's officially Nikon or from another manufacturer. Also wondering is that if there are any battery grips for the D70 to hold and use AA batteries?
How about tripods? Can someone suggest a good quality to price ratio tripod for use with the D70? Thanks for your help! Will be an expert soon with your help, haha.
Grev - IMO there is no need for higher capacity batteries for the D70 as the supplied battery will get you a swag of shots before needing to be recharged.
As for grips for the D70 as of this moment there are nnon available but if you check the threads in this forum you will find info re Harbortronics & HKJenis. Also, re tripods - Birddog is the Gitzo guru but you will find through search topics information on both Feisol and Manfrotto Chris

Grev.
I'm with Chris on the battery front. I have 3 batteries (1 x Nikon & 2 x OEM) and rarely need the second, let alone the third. Only thing that will really drain your battery is transferring pics from the D70 to your PC. Solution to that is to use a CF card reader (<$25) instead. Also a suggestion. Combining two very different questions in one thread can get very confusing once the answers come in. Better to have one for battery Q & A and another for tripod. And as Chris said, it's also a good idea to use search before asking a question as often your question will have been asked elsewhere with very comprehensive answers. That way you get an instant answer Cheers Peter

Thanks for the help.
I will tried searching but the thing is that sometimes I just don't know the advanced bits of information, so I'm trying to understand the basic pieces of information before going onto those.
I find that I can take 500-600 photos and transfer them all to the PC before I need a recharge. That's pretty impressive in my opinion.
With single battery on the D70, from 800-900 shots is normally, filled up nearly 3 to 4 x 2Gb CF card is standard., shooting RAW/NEF. Never use the D70 to transfer to PC, slow and not worth it. A card reader ($26.00) is a better solution Birddog114

I would agree with the longevity of the standard battery - it never ceases to amaze me...
However as Stubbsy mentioned, transfer to PC is very draining on the battery and furthermore there is no option to switch off the camera / facility after a certain time as there is with the metering etc. A couple of times I've left my D70 in PC mode and the battery has been drained overnight... I might start using my card reader as suggested by others... Cheers, John

I bought a $12 CAD (inculding shipping) battery off eBay, so far so good. Even if it doesn't perform like the Nikon branded one, I figured, it's still better than using 3 CR2 that cost the same and is not rechargable. Good value for a back up battery.
So no one have answered the question of "Are there any higher capacity batteries for the D70?" Anyone?
And I really need an answer for the tripod, I want to get one that's good, not too expensive and have most functions. I'm thinking of Manfrotto at the moment...
Grev - no there are not and as mentioned before why on earth would you need it if it did exist!!!!

I think the short answer is no (if there are any, I haven't seen anyone talk about them). The general concensus is that the standard battery is more than adequate. *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
As others said, no such of thing exist since the D70 was born, that why people did not answer your question. We have ton of threads about tripod in this forum on many brands as Manfrotto, Feisol, Gitzo, $25.00 cheapie from Aldi etc... You better view them from Equiment Review or search in General discussion, and my recommend is, it should go in a difference thread or question.
